It's not a hack comment. It's just voter history.

Voters vote their wallets. They don't get nostalgic about economies. Everything is "what have you done for me lately?"

Trump's economy is currently very bad, for millions of people. He's had challenges outside of his control - but most see now that his handling of those challenges has exacerbated the situation rather than improved it.

Again - not a hack comment. Simply reality, and reflected accurately in the current polls.

PPP and stimulus (relief checks) were the response, and they are manifestly working.
Polls do not take this rebound into consideration and are driven by fake news. we;ll see

Trump has handled both COVID and the protests terribly. It's almost like he's writing a textbook on how not to lead.

You'll call that TDS, but check the polling w/ independents on that one. You have to be completely under Trump's spell to now acknowledge his failures in the face of crisis. He is not built to handle crisis.

It all comes back to your main point about Trump - you agree he's a boor & immature on many levels, but say it's only about results. Well, we're seeing the results of his lack of leadership. COVID could have been mitigated much earlier; we lost February, and he has been all over the place since w/ contradictory messages on everything from shutdowns to masks.

With the protests, I don't know how even his most loyal supporters could argue he has handled them well. He went into hiding, essentially. Then he held up a Bible for the cameras, after tear gassing peaceful protestors. "Tone deaf" doesn't even begin to describe it.

I mean, it's not like people are any less dead. Taking precautions against any threat to life doesn't really depend on distinctions. Trump has even called COVID the enemy, and characterized this fight as a war.

But something as simple as wearing a mask was just too much for some people, because it has "only" killed 100,000....
