A mathematical model created by the Singapore University of Technology and Design is allowing the scientists to predict the future of the virus using data from already confirmed cases and deaths around the world.

Based on “a predictive-monitoring” technique, the model inputs global data, which is converted to a bar chart. A curve over the top of the chart displays the trajectory of the disease. Scientists at the university cautioned that their dates were not exact and that the predictions should not lead to hasty ends of lockdowns around the world.

What we do know is that we destroyed the economy and put 14 million on unemployment over a virus that resulted in .03% Americans dying. Senseless.

Spanish flu was H1N1. It is still around today. The virus simple mutates, but is still here. This ends when vaccine is developed and very likely not before then. Viruses only die out when there are no hosts readily available for it to infect. It does not 'magically disappear'. Virology is science, not magic.

What people do you speak of? Can you find one person who has articulated that? That is simply Trumpian nonsense. People who are interested in a fact based discussion are not hoping that this 'never ends'. Because you said so? Because you told me to count on it? Sorry, doesn't work that way. Viruses disappear when they have no more targets to infect. That happens with social distancing or herd immunity (almost certainly in this case via a vaccine). The virus itself is very unlikely to 'go away'. It isn't magic. It's science.

The flu does not disappear every single year. A different strain may be prevalent, but they don't go away. The number of cases drops during the summer months, the following winter, multiple strains are likely to take hold. That's why the flu vaccine changes every year. But these are not 'new' viruses. I guess at this point, you are simply trolling by repeating unsubstantiated claims. Carry on.

It is amazing that some don’t understand the effects of social distancing. NYC would be the perfect example with its high population density, virus hit, numbers escalated, and when they went into lockdown and followed social distancing guidelines the numbers gradually declined, without such, they’d have astronomical numbers today

What strikes me is that this is the first real generational crisis America has experienced since WWII, it effects all Americans equally, and yet, a large percentage of the population are bitching after three months cause they can’t eat in a restaurant, to the gym, hang at the beach, or even wear a mask when they are out in public. It makes you wonder how they would have reacted during a crisis as WWII with such as rations and curfews
