Pretty bad that he's never polled above even 50% on RCP average.
Kinda pathetic, really. He's never been able to expand his base. And those who disapprove of him do so very strongly.
Throughout his one term, he has never been able to connect with most Americans. This is terrible timing for his reelection chances, to have this crisis come at this time. What that's going to do is turn the election into a referendum on Trump. And that's the last thing he wants because people don't like him.
Even among his supporters there are people who don't really like him, wish he would shut up or speak more eloquently, not act like such an attention hog. He even promised to stop the tweeting and couldn't do it. Remember that? Just after the election, he was advised not to do that, let his team carefully consider public image, and what information to put out, you know, like it was with all other presidents before him? And he agreed. Which lasted about ten seconds, you know, because short attention-span. He's a con man. The gift of gab is his trick. He's a fast-talker, a slick talker. A grifter. He has to tweet. He can't do his schtick without that.
But he can't make this bad headline go away.
The election is about his response to the crisis, and that's not good. He is not getting good marks. Every governor polls higher than he does.
And the more he talked during his briefing/rallies, the lower his ratings went. So he had to quit that.
It's out of control and he is powerless and it scares him to death.

SO now the Repugnantlicans think that Donald Trump is some how invincible or even immortal. Perhaps they are counting on the Delegate Voting System, or that Russia will bail them out again, or that their old standby Voter Suppression or Gerrymandering will give them a safe haven or edge.
I just go with the philosophy that all Big trees will eventually fall- even sooner when they are rotten to the core!
