Crowds flock to reopened Jacksonville beaches as Florida hits record coronavirus case

My wife is from Georgia, and the whole family is still there. Makes for interesting family gatherings. I don't say much, but my wife is not a wallflower. It's educational though, you get the unvarnished truth from them. Being a transplant from north, the food takes a lot of getting used to. On the plus side, all the restaruarnts here are offering pickup/delivery, and we've had some great meals at a great price. We do that twice a week.

Where, if I may ask, are you a transplant from??

Right on.

Bolder than I.

I have not eaten anything other than home cooked since early March.

Travel plans scrapped, but hey. Got a nice garden going. Already got home grown tomatoes starting to ripen.

i do not call myself a Buddhist warrior - you seem to try to extrapolate more that what is written on a continual basis

Thanks for the confession because you certainly are not one. Why did you make this post?:
where did you here that? Do you know about Buddhist warriors? The task is to stay on the Noble Path

Were you just blowing smoke because you were being very unBuddha-like and very assholish?

I live there. The beaches are the center of social activities in this town. The entire stretch from Ponte Vedra to Neptune is packed on the weekends. This is a photo of the beach right after it opened last Friday. It's very typical. There is a lot of concern here, because of our proximity to Georgia and the fact that our beaches have reopened.

Also, here is a picture from a couple of weeks ago before the county south of Jacksonville had closed their beaches. It speaks for itself.

I don't think I'm that interested in becoming part of an infection study.
BEFORE COVID.
stay at home do what you want, but don't use scare tactics and false premesis to try to keep others from enjoying outdoor activities. maintain 6 feet and you won't even get coughed upon, and don't touch others things..
=what I have been saying continuously thrughout this thread, and what you continue to dodge

no it doesn't- if that wee true everyone would be a "poor Christian"

Some more than others. Do you think a good or a poor (if any) Christian calls everyone with whom they disagree a "demmycunt"? Just a "cunt" in general?

you mentioned something about being peaceful - i showed you peace isn't a requirement, though engaging in weapons making is forbidden.

Go back and re-read.

Yes I "mentioned something about being peaceful". LOL Thanks for the update, sweetie, that you believe bullying and name-calling are part of the Noble Path.

Let the cleansing of the imbeciles commence

Don't forget to run to your churches tomorrow

Mayor Lenny Curry reopened beaches and parks in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, after Governor Ron DeSantis gave the green light for them to reopen, despite the state hitting a record number of coronavirus cases. When they opened at 5 p.m., crowds flooded the area, ignoring social distancing warnings.

Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach are now open from 6-11 a.m. and 5-8 p.m. for "essential activities." They are closed during all other times.

More than 25,000 people in Florida have been infected with COVID-19, and schools, business and public events are all closed or canceled to try to slow its spread, according to the state Department of Health.

Quoting a fake news source like CBS is pointless. You are arguing a base rate fallacy. The number of infections in Florida are going down. The number of deaths is going down.

An infection rate of 0.00135% is insignificant.
A death rate of 0.000273% is insignificant.

6 feet does not stop a virus.
N95 masks do not stop a virus. Wearing them constantly just makes you look like a hypochondriatic dork. See the specifications for an N95 mask. They are used to control dust and particulate inhalation, but they do not stop a virus.
Wearing tampons in your nostrils or women's napkins as a mask doesn't stop a virus either, and it makes you look like more of a dork for wearing them.
Wearing plastic bags run the very real risk of suffocation.

Let 'em enjoy the beaches.

I am using neither. And I'm not sure what you mean by 'before Covid', but if you are suggesting those pictures were taken long ago, you are completely wrong.

Name one false statement from that piece. Go ahead. If you claim it is 'fake news' how about you provide us with the 'real news' and tell us what's fake about it. I'll wait.

Smart. Ya wouldn't catch ME out there.
Fine. Live in needless fear. Your choice.
The numbers don't lie.
Correct. A 0.00135% infection rate is insignificant. A 0.000273% death rate is insignificant. Source: CDC
We shall see how this works out.
We already have. People have been using the beaches in Florida already, despite any closures. There really is no way to enforce it.
I seriously hope it is actually OK.
It is.
6 feet does not stop a virus.
The infection rate and death rate in Florida are going down, just as it is everywhere.
Thought I heard that Georgia never closed their beaches.
They can try, it won't work.
Hey, now you could go up to Georgia if you're jonesing for a restaurant meal. Hope ya like fried food... I'm not sure if anything is cooked by any other method there.
Guess you don't get out and BBQ much. Lots of people do in Georgia.

vigorous debate is part of seeing things as they are and not as we wish them to be.
challenge my views -i'll do the same -it's much like the Socratic method.

How can i bully someone on a message board? threaten to beat you up ?? ROFL.

calling someone stupid that manifest stupidity of thought is hardly "name calling" it is what it is.

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Hey, that's cheating, you're quoting the bible not some secret Tibetan Buddhist text....lol

I have known you a long time & neither of us is perfect by any rationalization but I will say IMHO you are often more easier going than I....

My dear sweet grandmother once told me I could make a Saint cuss.lmao...

you are pretty even tempered yourself.
It doesn't mean I can't lose my temper -I'm Buddhist not some superhuman.
But if I do lose my temper I try to apologize or make up for it in some fashion.

None of which requires I "suffer fools gladly"

No, I think it takes a lot to piss you off though, & everyone has a point when you gotta address it... Sometimes that is a kind word, other times that could be a hammer...lol

We all have opinions, & you know what they say about opinions......lol

I try not to take myself or others to seriously, especially @ times like this......

We all here have far, far, far more in common than differences...

As a deterrent they should set up a makeshift ICU on the beach and let sunbathers watch people cough and die
on ground zero.
