Was Trump being sarcastic?

What?!!!!!

Listen - I know you're the leader of the Park Ave. crowd, but what kind of response is that?

Trump is treating you like an idiot. He 100% was not being sarcastic, and we have the video to prove it - yet he's claiming that, thinking you'll buy it.

No - projections weren't a "lie." They were not correct, but they weren't a lie. Any other completely irrelevant topics you want to bring up on this thread?
The only reason that they weren't accurate is because various governors took action despite trump. Good thing

Well, that's a whole different topic - but I agree. For starters, our political process attracts the wrong kind of personality. It almost demands narcissists and the overly ambitious. If you're smart, you do NOT run for President. Who in their right mind wants to go through that? We have failed w/ the process.

Beyond that, and people hate it when I say this - elections simply don't work, at least at the Presidential level. Most Americans - myself included - do not understand all of the nuances of foreign policy, economics, education, the environment, et al. One of our biggest considerations when casting a vote is "who would you rather have a beer with?" Do we really expect to get the best person who can handle a pandemic, or other major crisis?

It's all a fail. We need to go back & re-think this whole thing.
Because often, the way the electoral college functions, the people don't actually get the candidate that was elected.

Because he never owns up to anything which is quite obvious. But why would being "sarcastic" even be an appropriate approach and demeanor when discussing a pandemic which has killed over 50,000 Americans? :wall:
HAH! We're trying to get inside trump's head. Why is discussing the number of Facebook hits appropriate? Because the only crisis that trump recognizes, is when people don't like him.

Trump doesn't know the meaning of ' sarcasm '. He has just been schooled into claiming that he was expressing what is known as ' the lowest form of wit '.
Could you imagine the daily war room planning required to clean up the idiot's mess?

"Looks like the best we can do is to blatantly lie about this one. It's the best bad answer"

I fault both. You shouldn't excuse Trump's downplaying & misinformation early on - that's costing America dearly.

So, you wouldn't have shut down at all? Did it occur to you that projections may be off because more people complied with shutdown measures than they expected?
Because the governors stepped up.

I fault trump's golfing, and Klan rallies. He refused to listen to his briefings.

You're simply an apologist for incompetence.
Trump has opened a new nuclear arms race with the Russians.
Trump has reneged on the nuclear deal with the Iranians.
Trump has started a loser's trade war with China.
Trump has antagonized most of America's allies.
Trump has endorsed Izreali criminality in the Middle East
Trump has made the US a laughing stock with his Middle East ' Peace plan '
Trump has withdrawn the US from UN humanitarian institutions
Trump has made the dollar the pariah currency in the international monetary system.
Trump has turned the USA into a racist state.
ROFL.
Trump has opened a new nuclear arms race with the Russians.
do you understand da Russians were already fielding INF missiles in kaliningrad -violating the INF treaty?
Trump has reneged on the nuclear deal with the Iranians.
you mean the Iranians who JUST LAUNCHED A SATELLITE into space using an ICBM capable of hitting Europe? and the USA
Trump has started a loser's trade war with China.
you idiot. China was stealing our IProperty, forcing Joint venture agreements to disclose their patents pend -and restricting US goods to their markets?
The China trade was malign, and did not serve our interests -Trump got them to reform and open makets -but more is still needed
Trump has antagonized most of America's allies.
because they have to pay their fair share for NATO :palm:

Trump has endorsed Izreali criminality in the Middle East
Trump has made the US a laughing stock with his Middle East ' Peace plan '
peace plans are designed to fail (Because of Hamas) - did Obama make any efforts there? NO

Trump has withdrawn the US from UN humanitarian institutions
The UN is a bunch of China based committes programs. hat specifically do you object to?
How about China funding the WHO -and the Who parroting Chinese lies? on COVID
Trump has made the dollar the pariah currency in the international monetary system.
this is really stupid even for you! The dollar is the currency used for world trade on oil and damn near everything else -How TF is that a "pariah currency" :palm:

Trump has turned the USA into a racist state.
HA HA.we are an integrated society with laws protecting minorities, and upper economic expansion for ALL Americans.

You are full of talking points that don't stand to scrutiny and obsessed with TDS.

You are extremely gullible and un-informed as well.

I give you credit for not being a Russiaphobe but little else

How can Trump be a Russian puppet if he's trying to nuke them?

Ironic that you post an antisemitic comment then declare Trump a racist. Are there good bigotries and bad bigotries in your view?

No, I believe he was basically thinking out loud. Definitely not his greatest moment, but hardly the end of the world either. If libs were honest, they would question 90% of Dementia Joe's comments, but they never do. Instead they lie and blow Trump's comments way out of proportion.

Deflection and whataboutism.

but they respect him because he uses economc nationalism.
That has gotten us:

* Mexico to police it's border with the US (unheard of) /stopping the caravans
* a new NAFTA (USMCA)
*phase 1 trade agreement w/China
*new trade agreement with India/Japan and a few more i forgot
*NATO up payments from Europe

and before COVID the world best economy so far.

So what do you freaks obsess over instead? Trumps language!

Sweetie, the United States of America has always used and will continue to use economic nationalism. The Corporations are the ones who try to maximize profits by playing with national boundaries. As far as that goes, Trump has the entire nation in cruise control.

The jury is still out on the ramifications of COVID-19. Let's see what happens by June 1st and discuss this more.

Trump goes into hiding

Trump was not being sarcastic, he was serious?!! And now after all the fallout and ridicule, he go's into hiding?!!

It looks like President Trump is going into hiding -- from the press, that is. Facing an avalanche of controversy over his bizarre comments on sunlight and dangerous comments regarding disinfectants, the President held a record short briefing Friday evening (sans Drs. Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx), abruptly ending it after 22 minutes of statements without taking any questions from the press.

On CNN, Wolf Blitzer called Trump "chicken" and said he was "probably afraid" of the grilling he was all but certain to face over the "flat lie" he told the day before regarding disinfectants. Later in the night, Anderson Cooper, who argued Trump was guilty of "Soviet"-like spin for pretending his comments were sarcastic during a bill signing, because he knew he'd face hard questions.

It's really a bad showing when your advisors - mid crisis - tell you that the best thing would be if you just stayed out of the public eye & didn't say anything...

No kiddie, sweet cheeks, but that was going on long before Donald Trump ever got his first million dollar loan from his father.

One day, we're all going to sit back and watch hours of these moments, reminiscing about the time the nation elected an illiterate moron.

I'm just afraid that we're going to elect someone worse one day and Trump will look good by comparison, the same way Bush now looks good by comparison.

At some point the nation has to hit rock bottom. That's when the shit will hit the fan.
