it would not ban freedom of assembly, just from calling it a political party

how about this, a group of people in any given city, county (parish), state or the whole nation could get together and select a person to represent them - the more people, the more representatives they could elect

of course that would require a change to our constitution to something more like a parliamentary system, but hey, the system is broken as it is

not that any of it would ever happen
