Fighting against abortion is a losing battle. This was resolved 50 years ago. The country isn't going back to banning abortions, whether you want it that way or not.

It doesn't even matter if you could convince pro-choicers it's a full grown baby on day 0 of gestation. They do not care. They believe pregnancy by default makes women second class citizens, harming their ability to work/have careers, harming their economic parity with men, harming their overall freedom. They believe killing a developing baby and sucking it's brains out with a suction tube is a worthy price to pay. Of course, if you falcon punch them in the ovaries or put ru486 in their coffee because you don't want the kid either, they will still make sure you get charged with murder. It's only a human life when it is convenient.

I am not sure I blame women. If I was a woman, I'd probably abort a baby too. But that's me. Do people want to be like me?

On the other hand, sometimes I surprise myself. Maybe i'd be more principled.

It's impossible to say I suppose.

Lets just have the intellectual honesty that you value your freedom more than the life inside you, even if it WERE a baby. Then we can at least have a honest conversation.

However, from a strategic standpoint, re: republicans, this is a losing battle. We are not going to ban aborition. It's not going to happen. Keep pushing this, republicans will lose, and they will keep losing until they learn that women are just as selfish as men are, and are every bit as hypocritical, and suffer from just as much cognitive dissonance as the next person.

There is no such thing as true altruism. There is no such thing as putting others before yourself. We are selfish apes living a violent and destructive life, hustling and angling and looking to climb over the next body on our way up maslow's hierarchy of needs. You'll be scratched and kicked and bit and killed if you stand in anyones way. This is who we are. It is the most powerful motivating force in all of human existence. It cannot be stopped.

If that means a baby/fetus is in the way, it will be aborted.

Abortions will happen no matter what.

(BTW it's hard to tell if your OP is a sarcasm or not.)

that's just me, baby.

I have a dramatic writing flair, as I am a modern day sage.

The premise of my post is in the title, and it's not sarcasm.

Oh I get it! Yeah I was wondering. With those people here on JPP, you can't be certain.

But yeah Republicans cannot win on abortion issue.

The irony is that Roe v. Wade was a Republican majority decision.

President Trump has signed a lot of legislation easing the financial burdens of pregnancy and having children. He is very pro family.

And as our scientific knowledge surrounding the issue advances, there is a a pro life movement growing among millenials.

trump had the women he paid for sex sign an agreement that if they did not get an abortion, they would lose the money he paid them, and would even have to pay him money. Not exactly "easing" the financial burden there.

would you kill a toddler using the same reasoning?

Many of us aren’t looking for the Supreme Court to ban it. We are looking to making it a states rights issue.

As far as being altruistic and putting others before yourself, have kids and you will see what it is like putting your needs behind someone else’s.

I know you like to be a hard ass and for the most part you are about many things. But deep down you care. You are right about the reason most women are pro abortion. They have been taught to see pregnancy as a burden instead of the awesome power and responsibility it is. I think they resent having that kind of responsibility. They bring life into the world. It doesn’t get more awesome than that

There is hope for you Grind. Hell, you were anti Trump now look at you. You probably have a MAGA hat in your house now

source? do you have any data to back this up?

There are tons of varying opinions and polls on the issue. Here is one example ...

March 04, 2016 "Millennials lean more pro-life than the generation preceding them because of advances in medical technology and science, leaders in conservative media said Friday.

Dana Perino, co-host of Fox News Channel’s “The Five,” moderated the panel on the relevance of conservative principles to the millennial generation.

Perino noted that a survey by the Associated Press found a 12-percent decline nationwide in abortions since 2010, including in blue states such as New York, Washington, and Oregon."

Americans aged 18 to 29, part of the millennial generation, also have become more pro-life than their parents, according to a Gallup poll cited by Perino. In 2010, it found, 24 percent of millennials agreed abortion should remain legal in all cases, compared with 36 percent of those aged 18 to 29 in 1991."

For the sake of discussion say the Supreme Court did overturn R v W and it became a state's rights issue. And let's say several states decide to ban it. Talk about a culture war battle. We already saw certain businesses pull business from North Carolina after they passed their bathroom bill a few years back. How many businesses would vow to not do business in states that ban abortion? And if they are major employers how would the leaders of these states deal with it? Would they say F It, we don't need your jobs?

Grind you present one of the best possible reasons why abortion should be legal. However you are right. This is an example of Republicans doing what they traditionally do. Winning battles and losing wars.

How is killing a baby because you don't like the results of spreading your legs winning war?

and let me know how that works out for you, politically and spiritually
