Bloomberg's income tax returns!

At one point, the Republicans were the Liberals, and the Democrats were the Conservatives. At least by the time's standards.
But either way, Lincoln wasn't open about his orientation. If he was, even many of the Liberals of the time wouldn't have voted for him.

You're confused about the definition of conservatism v. liberal and how that changed over the last 160 years; not the parties. The GOP has always been about the true nature of our founding documents, especially the Declaration. Specific to the Party at the time of Lincoln: "All Men are created equal".

The Democrat Party, sadly, not so much.

Well then the true nature of our founding documents must have changed, because the Republicans used to be about federal intervention and human rights, while the Democrats were about states' rights and unfettered Capitalism. Today it's the opposite. You can thank Goldwater for that.

That's the narrative of your beloved Democrat Party; it's not reality.

Because he has no chance of winning. Notice you don't see anyone calling for Maryann Williamson's tax returns either.

Were the impeached one's tax returns requested prior to his getting the nomination? I don't recall that...do you? Why are those on the right so consistently clueless?

They were, but that's because he was one of the front-runners. Because Bloomberg is now surging, they asked him last night to release his tax returns. Say what you will about Democrats, but they've been very consistent here.

Trump was the first major party presidential nominee not to release any tax returns, dating back to 1976, when President Gerald Ford released a summary of his tax returns, rather than the complete returns. Every major party nominee since then has released complete tax returns.

I'm pretty sure that it's not expected until one is the actual nominee. There should be no excuse after that. Trump has gotten away with murder. At this point, why should any nominee ever release theirs? The jerkwad set a precedent and every sap supported him in his not doing so.

See that's what Trumpcucks don't understand. If Trump does something bad like, and I'm just making up an example here, trying to cheat in an election, he normalizes said bad thing. Now it's going to be normal for Democrats to cheat in elections too.
Trump obviously hasn't been paying his taxes, that's the real reason he won't release his returns. But now, because of his normalization, Democrats like Bloomberg can also not release their returns. They can simply say Trump didn't do it, why should I?

There is no legal reason to post your returns only a political reason. If a nominee refuses to post their return and it bothers you don't vote for him. Why is that hard for you to understand?

What they should say is that they will do it when jerkwad does it.

I didn't vote for the repulsive fat orange SOB. And every nominee has released their returns since the 1970's out of respect for the electorate. Everyone knows that the cowardly impeached one has much rot to hide.

How is Socialism defined? According to Fox News, Obama is a Socialist, but so was Stalin. They also seem to think that both Denmark and North Korea are Socialist.
So which is it? What is Socialism?

The one where free enterprise/capitalism/market liberalism is not permitted to exist. Granted, there are plenty of individuals within liberal societies that basically want this end result. Few outside of Bernie Sanders supporters ever seem to be willing to admit it, and accusing people of harboring such a position, when they have not formally embraced the label, is generally viewed as a fruitless endeavor (and likely inaccurate).

Well under Bernie Sanders, we would still have free enterprise and a free market. There would be some exceptions, of course. It will still be illegal to sell your children into slavery. But for the most part, we'd have a free market and the majority of companies would be privately owned.

So really, there's no need to worry about "Socialism," since no mainstream politician actually wants this.

You think Republicans were to the left of Democrats during the massive industrial expansion of the so-called Gilded Age? Even before William Jennings Bryan's populist revolt sent the Democratic Party on the path to economic leftism, it was never close to being the party of capitalism that the GOP was.

Not if he could have his way, we wouldn't. It's no accident that Bernie was a supporter of every Marxist movement throughout the 20th Century.

Before and during the Civil War, the Democrats were fighting for states' rights, while the Republicans were fighting for government overreach and Abolitionism. Which side sounds more capitalist?
