Chuck Todd: ‘I Don’t Understand How Bernie’s Considered a Frontrunner’

There's a reason the service industry is paid low wages. It has to do with the level, or lack thereof, of skills. It's like anything else. When you have a surplus of something, it doesn't have a value as much it would if there were less of it or even a shortage. When you have people doing "service industry" jobs, something most people can do simply by existing, those jobs aren't going to pay much.

This is the exact argument fabric mills would say to women who worked the machinery. They were easily replaceable to simply run a machine that does most the work. Lots of workers dying to get a chance to work for scraps.

It's basic economics. Surpluses mean lower prices and shortages mean higher prices. When the job can be filled by just about anyone by picking a random person off the street, it isn't going to pay much.

If the only skills one has is in the "service industry", the only person he/she has to blame is him/herself. Rather than trying to better him/herself, they beg for more.

Yes but 'basic economics' doesn't care about he human condition, and neither do capitalists. The industrial revolution was followed by the Progressive Era of US history. The new industrial advancements of oil and mass steal production made the richest men ever seen at the time - the a massive impoverished army of workers. But eventually those workers starting organizing and making demands - even worse the brought their demand to the Supreme Court. The government even engaged on breaking up monopolies and setting aside land for "national parks" - truly the most evil socialist program I've ever seen.

Given the financial burden a college education typically comes with it's not really that easy. But perhaps if we as a society invested more in education, especially at the highschool level, more people could go on to university or trade school.

So the whole "blue no matter who" stuff is a lie?

And yet the DNC loves Bloomberg who is a Republican?

I don't understand the nature of your criticism. He works with mostly just Democrats, he' in their circles and he knows a 3rd party run would only help the GOP.

This is the kind of tribalism party loyalty that the GOP fetishizes, it's not a good look fam.

Hyperbole. He endorsed and campaign for Hillary after losing.

Well have fun running a moderate to lose against him then.

She's a BOT supporting the republican party in dems clothing.

Economics explains the human condition. Those with low skills get a skill equivalent low wage and vice versa. What capitalism allows people to do is improve their skills so they aren't shitty and they can make a higher wage.

Those that organized and start making demands were the one that had shitty skills but wanted to be paid more than they were worth. If they were honorable, they would have improved themselves instead of being beggars.

Spending for public education has done nothing but go up. The results have not improved at the same pace.

What financial burden? My wife has four degrees, two of which are advance, I have three, two of which are advance, one of our daughters graduated college recently and the other will graduate college next year. All four of us with what will be a combined 9 degrees and absolutely no debt. There's a reason for that. As parents, we invested in their education and as students, both earning lots in scholarships, they invested in their own, as well.

If parents of a kid don't think their own is a good enough investment for them, they can't tell me their child is a good investment for me.

Stickin’ to his guns? The NRA helped elect Bernie Sanders ...

ALL OF WHITE AMERICA LOVES GUNS.........

They don't really want guns off the streets they want them out of the hand of Blacks and other minorities.

This issue is moot until white america wants to discuss the truth about the 2nd amendment.

No, there are a lot of white pussies that are afraid of guns. Nomad comes to mind.

The truth about the 2nd is stated in the 2nd. Try reading it.

I don't care if anyone exercises their 2nd amendment rights as long as they do it legally and don't misuse what they have a right to purchase.

But they don't. https://www.economist.com/united-states/2014/02/01/mobility-measured Also being abl to explain something is not an act of caring or empathy for the human condition.

You do realize we're talking about an era in which public university was mostly attended by rich people right? And that many people. especially women, had to work for a daily wage to avoid starvation. That's not ideal school attendance conditions.

Spending for public education has done nothing but go up. The results have not improved at the same pace.

As more students attend it follows more funding goes with it.

Tell that to the parents living paycheck to paycheck when it means saving for college or going hungry. Do you not understand what wealth and privilege are?

If parents of a kid don't think their own is a good enough investment for them, they can't tell me their child is a good investment for me.

You don't seem to understand what progresivism is about ... poor people cant just buy the education you had. Stop living so narrowly - I shouldn't have to explain this to a person with supposed degrees.

It's not about empathy. That is a personal thing. Economics explains it and that's all that matters.

No, we're talking about people that have shitty skills wanting to be paid far more than their skills are worth.

Nice try but it's per pupil spending that has gone up.

Their personal situation doesn't justify demanding someone else pay for THEIR kids' education. That statement has been made to them only to be met with more whining much like you're doing. If you think only wealthy and privileged go to college, you're sadly mistaken.

I fully understand what progressivism is. It's the mindset that if you can make more excuses, it means someone that has more than progressives think they should have should be forced to support someone else. I didn't buy that education. My wife and I sacrificed lots of things to be able to provide for OUR children. I shouldn't have to explain that concept but it's clear someone with a gimme, gimme, gimme upbringing thinks others should be responsible for things which are their responsibility.

You're unironically proving my point "basic economics' doesn't care about the human condition,"

That doesn't negate the point. Even you know then that college isn't a affordable as it was a generation ago.

You could say this nonsense about any social service.

If you think only wealthy and privileged go to college, you're sadly mistaken.

When did I ever imply this? Of course I know other income levels go to college. But most rich people will go to the elite and best colleges. As the recent scandal show's they'll even lie about their aptitude and bribe their way in. Poor people can't do that.

You think about others in bad faith. It hinders your reasoning skills. Today's generation is more educated yet lower wage than the previous generation. https://www.vox.com/2014/12/4/7329207/millennials-incomes-falling https://www.cnbc.com/2019/11/05/mil...han-boomersdespite-being-better-educated.html

Economics explains HOW to improve the human condition. If the number of pupils didn't change, spending still would have increased because more per is being spent.

When you asked "do you know what wealth and privilege are?" It proves Hollywood lefties will lie.

I think about others by their actions and demands. When a parent that refuses to do for his/her own kids expecting someone else to provide to their, that's bad faith on their part. Acknowledging that is nothing more than acknowledging facts.

So the whole "blue no matter who" stuff is a lie?

I have stated repeatedly I will vote for Bernie over TRUMP

And yet the DNC loves Bloomberg who is a Republican?

If he doesn't have to stand in front of the others and get the heat he cant be beat fool

I don't understand the nature of your criticism. He works with mostly just Democrats, he' in their circles and he knows a 3rd party run would only help the GOP.

because he is russian dirty and hates my party and its people ( why did he hire Tad Devine?)

This is the kind of tribalism party loyalty that the GOP fetishizes, it's not a good look fam.

Bernie is DIRTY

Hyperbole. He endorsed and campaign for Hillary after losing.
did you watch the dem covention?

his people were booing even him for backing Hil ( its was the russin influence )

Well have fun running a moderate to lose against him then.

why would a moderat lose

most of the people running are considered moderates by Bernie people

Bernie is getting about 25% in white states

Biden is polling at 36% in NC

most people don't even know his record of hiring a Putin shill to run his last campaign

Bernie cant win

YOU liking him wont change that

Economics explains HOW to improve the human condition.

You can keep your trickle down voodoo economics. Neo-liberal economic theory has been the norm for the last 40 years and look at the stratification - it mirrors levels seen 100 years ago before the stock market crash.

If the number of pupils didn't change, spending still would have increased because more per is being spent.

I don't know or care where you're going with this. Of course costs over time would go up. Introducing new more expensive tech, more administrators for the bureaucracy, why is this a surprise to you? Especially for person who claims to have degrees.

When you asked "do you know what wealth and privilege are?" It proves Hollywood lefties will lie.

Yea, you breath bad faith. Are you anything like George Cloony who's helping the UN track the genocide in Darfur by funding spy planes? Who cares if left wingers are hypocrites - if you're a christian you should examine the plank in the eye of the Right before you address the Left.

I think about others by their actions and demands. When a parent that refuses to do for his/her own kids expecting someone else to provide to their, that's bad faith on their part. Acknowledging that is nothing more than acknowledging facts.

I think you have a very biased measure on the facts you choose to perceive.
