At Least 1 Dead in Shooting at Texas Church

Most guns are there to protect the gun-owner and their families.

They are used when needed by honest gun-owners who never use them to commit a crime.

It's called being vigilant.

You win the year with this post.

Racist white men have brainwashed white america into thinking they have a right to own a gun. That is not what the constitution says. Racist white americans feel they have a right to shoot Blacks if they want..........and they can legally get away with it.

Remember law enforcement was born from slave patrols.......armed kkk used to capture freed slaves dead or alive. If alive they put them back in chains to profit off their slave labor. ...............thus law enforcement was borne. it why we have millions of Black men in prisons to day.

Then why aren't there THOUSANDS of bodies laying in the streets, every morning??

I have them because I can.

An old professor of mine used to say "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".

So, the excuse of "personal security" or "safety" or "hunting" or "target shooting" isn't really the reason you have guns. You have them simply because you can. Well, you can have syphilis too...so would you have syphilis just because you can get it?

Doubtful.

Yeah, I'm sure the 200,000 "responsible gun owners" who have their guns stolen every year also thought they were infallible.

Problem is, it doesn't matter how reckless you are with your ownership...you're ultimately not held accountable if your gun walks off and ends up in the hands of criminals.

Those four reasons are enough for me having guns. I need no more than having the right to own the rest (which are mostly for investment). So yes, I have them because I can.

As for the STD's, if you want syphilis, that's on you.

Who says I'm reckless with my ownership of firearms? You? Who the hell are you? You're just some internet retard trying to be relevant. You're not relevant. Not at all.

No, but the NRA makes life immensely easier for the criminals, and for every nutter who fancies shooting a few children. It is clearly responsible for a very major party of the American sickness.

Uh, what? In your country, guns are difficult to get, but that doesn't stop people from knifing each other all the time.

By contrast, Canada has over 8 times as many guns proportionately to the population as you do, but their gun laws are less strict than yours and they have less violent crime overall.

It's not about weapons or the laws regarding them. It's about culture.

You buy a gun to protect your home, business, and car from criminals armed with guns they stole from homes, businesses, and cars.

If you don't see the inherent stupidity of that cycle, then the gun isn't about safety for you...it's about something else.

Some criminals steal guns from legal owners, but plenty of others buy them on the black market.

Families with guns are less safe. Factor in accidental shootings, family shootings, suicides and if you care about family safety, you will not get a gun.

Of course it would work.

Say you offer $5K per handgun and $10K per long gun...the average "responsible gun owner" owns between 8-10 guns. So, assume half are handguns and the other half are long guns, and you end up with a buyback of $60K.

You mean to tell me that most trash would rather keep their guns than get $60K in cash?

You might not make that deal, but someone in your family probably would.

If the program is no-questions-asked, then anyone could turn the guns in and no one would know.

So your plan is to create a situation where people steal guns from each other and then turn them into the state for a profit? I guess I should expect that complete lack of ethics from a leftist.

Ex-husbands and ex-boyfriends are probably less likely to try shooting a woman that is armed. Violent abusers are usually cowards, just like common criminals.

What do you base that fantasy on? Do people stand up to cops? They have guns and unlike citizens are trained to handle them. Mass shooters factor getting killed into the equation that goes into the plan. That is not cowardice but craziness. We sell guns to crazy people. But it takes nerve to shoot people. It puts the shooter in great jeopardy. Not cowards at all. Just crazy.

Mainly they want to shoot Blacks and Muslims who look Black............ They can get away with it legally.............see george zimmerman

Blacks can't own guns legally or not. They are murdered on site if they even appear to have a gun.

A South Florida family is outraged at North Miami Beach Police after mug shots of African American men were used as targets at a shooting range for police training.

If this was really true for the average gun owner, then you'd see a lot more black men being shot by hunters, collectors, and such.

Instead, the majority of shootings against blacks are done by other blacks, oftentimes with illegally acquired weapons. Gang members are the most common shooters.

Ok, let's go with your assumption then. What's the solution? If someone already has a gun and is intent on shooting you, would you rather have a gun yourself or not?

The problem with your logic and that of LV is that you guys base everything on something like a successful confiscation scheme being implemented. Until that happens, none of this disarming actually works to anyone's benefit other than for criminals.

We've had this discussion before. Are you saying that rights are granted by the state?

I’m saying the claim of universal rights is bunk.

You have whatever rights your government allows you to possess. Nothing more, nothing less. How many countries have a right to possess guns? Two? Three?
