That topic has already been included in U. S. schools for many years--so that puts us ahead of Italy. You often see science projects and fairs about climate. The WH does not determine school curricula like the central government does in Italy (requiring all the students to study Dante which they hate).

I think we all know that. My comment was about the current administration and its failure to even discuss the topic, let alone promulgate ideas to curb carbon emissions. In fact, wasn't Cheeto just recently threatening to violate state's rights and force California to drop its more stringent emissions standards?

Yes, he announced that in Sept. I don't know the current status. It is not really a states' rights issue because CA was granted a legal waiver to have higher standards which can be revoked. A few of the auto manufacturers said they would continue to follow the CA standards.

If we all cared about auto emissions (the largest source of greenhouse gas) we would all buy electric/hybrid cars.

The only reason California can even pretend to be green is because they import much of their electricity from neighbouring states. They also get 40% of electricity in-state from gas powered CCGT generation.

Due to high electricity demand, California imports more electricity than any other state, primarily wind and hydroelectric power from states in the Pacific Northwest (via Path 15 and Path 66) and nuclear, coal-, and natural gas-fired production from the desert Southwest via Path 46.[12] Imported coal-fired electricity is expected to decline as power agreements expire and the city of Los Angeles phases out its use of imported coal by 2025.

When and where was that? Because even 2000 years ago the Greeks knew the Earth was round. So even though you want to compare science of the 21st century to knowledge folks had over 2000 years ago, you actually made a pretty ignorant statement.

But it is likely that the current day idiotic flat-earthers are climate science deniers as well.

That is another reason we need to beef up science education

Wingnuts are obviously unaware that even the ancient greeks surmised the earth was spherical and this was widely known in Columbus' day.

A functioning representative democracy only works when citizens are broadly informed and educated in history , science, geography, civics, grammar, logic, math, and humanities.
