Btw, you've been criticizing Greta for saying "you stole my childhood dreams, etc." yet Sandmann's parents claim that his publicity from the event falsely maligned him and ruined him for life. So there's enough hyperbole to go around no matter which side you're on.

She is not a scientist, and is not required to provide expert scientific testimony.
She wisely leaves the science to the subject matter experts - who based on four decades of research overwhelmingly have concluded that Greta's generation faces serious climate challenges if we adopt a do-nothing attitude.
She is advocating action and awareness on the part of decision makers and the global community.
I find some of her language a tad hyperbolic, but everyone here remembers what it was like to be a teenager - some us were full of passion, unrestrained animation, and exuberance, and we had not yet learned the adult skill of temperance and restraint.

That's a pretty elaborate theory. Steyer, Gore and Soros aren't part of the UN. My guess would be the Swedish ambassador invited her, because he saw how she rallied kids via her strikes and social media. A lot of countries in the world have concerns over climate change but Americans tend to have blinders on about that, even though we're the second largest CO2 emitter, behind China. That aside, there have been hoaxes about her connection to Soros et al. Photos were doctored to put both of them in a bad light. I'm a little surprised that you'd take any of this at face value.

However, the girl shown standing next to an ISIS militant was not Thunberg; the photograph of Thunberg with Soros was doctored; and Thunberg's wearing of an "Antifascist All Stars" T-shirt was far from an unambiguous gesture of "alignment" with the Antifa movement.
1. The above image does not show Thunberg with ISIS . It was taken during a Quran recital contest hosted by Isis members in Aleppo, Syria, in 2013, as we outlined in an earlier fact check article.
2. This image [of Thunberg and Soros] does show Thunberg, but the face of financier and philanthropist George Soros has been digitally superimposed onto the body of the man standing next to her. The original photograph actually pictured former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and was posted to Twitter by Thunberg in December 2018.
3. The underlying image in this meme [Thunberg is aligned with "the terrorist organization Antifa"] was the only one of the three photographs that was authentic, unedited, and also showed Thunberg. She posted it to her Twitter account in July 2019 as part of a campaign to promote the band The 1975, which featured a photograph that showed the band’s lead singer Matt Healy sitting next to Thunberg, who wore a T-shirt bearing the slogan “Antifascist All Stars."

You and the cons say she's spouting bull shit. If that's true why do you guys pay attention to her? She's not a politician, she can't issue directives. She's a young person giving voice to the concerns of millions of other young people around the world. I commend her for following her beliefs while also thinking that she's preaching to the choir. She's not going to change your mind, my mind or the minds of scientists both pro and con on the climate.
Soon Greta's going to go back to Sweden and people will be on to the next new thing. I think it's crazy to be so upset about what she's doing.
