The economy moves slowly. Sometimes, enormous changes can occur without the average person being able to spot the effects for months — or even years. So, while you might be getting sick of reading about just how big a change you’re in store for because of the trade war between the U.S. and China, the simple fact is that the American economy is beginning to reflect the added costs of tariffs on imports to the U.S. as well as the retaliatory tariffs on American goods being shipped elsewhere.

But, rest assured, there are definitely some Americans who are not looking around wondering what the big deal is. If you run a soybean farm or a furniture store, you’re already feeling the sting in a major way. And while changes to something like the price of a bushel of corn on commodity markets might not seem like something you should worry about, the simple fact is that it probably is — you just don’t know it yet.

So, here’s a look at some changes in prices for various everyday goods and commodities caused by the trade war.

Prices for major appliances have jumped 8.1% in the past 12 months, with all of the increase coming since April, according to a government index that tracks consumer prices.

Sounds like you live in a shithole. They haven't changed where I live. Bought the same dishwasher last week for my mother's house that I put in mine last September. Same price.

China is retaliating against American tariffs by imposing its own tariffs on U.S. products, but the damage to American businesses will low. Leaders in Beijing announced plans to tax $60 billion of U.S. sales to China as a response to President Trump’s plans to tax all Chinese exports to the U.S., which total about $540 billion. China’s tariff rates would range from 5% to 25%. The good news, or less bad news, is that the damage to American business will be much less than the straight dollars would imply.

Because most normal people realize this is an issue of national security, and we are willing to pay a little more to solve this problem. It's funny to hear libs complain about higher prices. What do you think lib policies like, $15 per hour min wage, universal health care, health care for illegals, free college, and the Green New Deal would do to prices? Cause them to go down? Please.
