Bernie Sanders calls for “21st Century Bill of Rights”

Too difficult?

Let me try another.

Do you think just the people that use the road should pay for the road?
That there should be Toll Roads across the Nation so the people that use the road should pay for it.
Or.
Do you believe in a 'communal' concept that we all chip in and all pay for the roads so that none of us have to stop for a Toll Booth. That the road system is 'free' for everybody?
(Now, keep in mind, the Traveling Salesman is probably going to get a better deal out of this than the guy that lives next to his Workplace)

Oh the old "roads" argument. I have no problem with taxes going to pay for roads. That could be achieved with excise taxes and tariffs much like the country was funded until 1916.

Of course, now you think you have the ultimate "gotcha" because according to you leftists, if we agree to "public" roads, it only stands to reason that I should support "socialized" medicine and a living wage and free college because you will twist yourself in knots trying to explain to me how I will benefit from all of this "communal" effort.

The thing is it has no material effect on me if you have medical insurance and die of a heart attack absent the federal government demanding that no ER can turn you away thus cost shifting your burden. If you were truly financially responsible for your own care then you would either get insurance or die. Neither is of consequence to me.

Now this is where you move on to the police and fire departments because you know if the gobblement didn't step in, we would have private police forces and private fire companies. More false choices by another left wing false wizard.

PS

I have seen all of these bullshit arguments before. You are not the first. I have swatted them down in the past and I will continue to do so. Next time try not to argue using false choices. You might fare better

Provide the quotes from Sander's speech that back-up your "free stuff" premise but you failed to be specific when I asked about the particulars of this free stuff you speak of in an earlier post. As of now, the USA has morphed into an ideology of "Privatize the Profits/Socialize the Losses due to right wing trickle down bull shit and corporate welfare. Not exactly fertile ground for growing and maintaining a thriving middle class. The American Dream is dead for most folks or at least on life support and it was not social polices that killed it.
The middle class is alive and well. The country is prosperous - wage gains are finally happening under Trump.
People own houses and cars and take vacations..how is this the death of the American dream?

I just mentioned a few. Is your comprehension that poor?
free medical and free education and guaranteed jobs..stipends etc.

I'm surprised that poor (not so poor anymore, thanks to Capitalism) old Bernie knows what century he is in.

Yes- the ' re-Americanization ' of America. Millions will go for that- particularly the millions of desperately poor .
I'll keep listening as Sanders lays it out.

Admittedly I’m not understanding what the ‘re-Americanization’ of America means. Outside of war time and certain groups set up during the Great Depression when has the American government given jobs to people like Bernie is proposing?

Edit: The economy will change of course but at the moment we have something like a 3.6% unemployment rate. For those who want jobs there are jobs available. I’m not sure that there are millions of people like you say who want jobs that can’t find them. What kind of job is the government going to give someone that can’t find one elsewhere right now?

No Socialist, in a presidential election, has ever received more than .02% of the vote.

Who was the Socialist candidate in 2016.

Was there even a Socialist presidential candidate in 2016?

Hello Stretch,

Poor old Comrad Bernie has no "new" bill of rights. It's the Bernie Manifesto.
He's into the same "old" Marxist economics and cultural activism. Nothing new here.

*******************************

Bernie’s Bread Lines and Revolution

He loves Mother Russia and Cuba. At the University of Chicago, Mr. Sanders was a member of the Young People’s Socialist League. In 1963, he lived in Israel at Kibbutz Sha’ar Ha’amakim (KSH), which was co-founded by Aharon Cohen, who was arrested for spying for the Soviet Union in the 1950s. According to Discoverthenetworks.org, “the founders of KSH referred to Joseph Stalin as the ‘Sun of the Nations,’ and a red flag was flown at outdoor events held at the kibbutz. Sanders stayed at KSH as a guest of the Zionist-Marxist youth movement Hashomer Hatzair (HH), which pledged its allegiance to the Soviet Union.”

In 1971, Mr. Sanders joined the Liberty Union Party (LUP), which called for a government takeover of all U.S. banks and private utility companies. In the mid-1970s, Mr. Sanders headed the American People’s History Society, which journalist Paul Sperry describes as “an organ for Marxist propaganda.”

As mayor of Burlington, Vermont, in the 1980s, Mr. Sanders hung a Soviet flag in his office in honor of Burlington’s Soviet sister city, Yaroslavl, where he honeymooned in 1988 with his second wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders.

He set price controls, raised taxes and placed restrictions on the rights of landlords. He named Burlington’s softball team the “People’s Republic of Burlington.”

In 1980, he backed for president Socialist Workers Party candidate Andrew Pulley, a Marxist who called for a government takeover of America’s energy industry.

In 1985, Mayor Sanders went to Nicaragua to celebrate the sixth anniversary of Daniel Ortega’s communist Sandinista regime and speak at an anti-American rally. He arranged for Burlington and Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, to be sister cities, and also visited communist Cuba.
When Ortega orchestrated mass arrests of critics and shut down opposition media, Mr. Sanders refused to condemn him, later saying the crackdown “makes sense to me.” He now supports Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, who has turned that once-prosperous country into a communist nightmare.

In 1989, Mr. Sanders addressed the U.S. Peace Council, a Communist Party USA front whose members were committed, according to the FBI, to advancing “the triumph of Soviet power in the U.S.”

As an admirer of crackdowns on pesky opposition media, Sen. Sanders in 2007 co-sponsored the Media Ownership Reform Act, which, among other things, would have re-established the misnamed Fairness Doctrine in order to muzzle conservative talk radio.

In 2011, Mr. Sanders was the first U.S. senator to support the violent Occupy Wall Street movement and opined: “These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina, where incomes are actually more equal today than they are in the land of Horatio Alger. Who’s the banana republic now?”

And more recently.........................
Government takeover of health care and drug companies; “free” college tuition; “free” child care; confiscatory taxes on “the rich,” and much of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal. That hare-brained scheme calls for a massive government expansion to do away with airplanes, the internal combustion engine, “farting cows” (thus, hamburgers), and all fossil fuels within 11 years. Don’t laugh; they’re serious.

It would take not only trillions of dollars but suspension of most basic liberties to do this. Karl Marx summarized communism as “abolition of private property,” which ultimately requires violence.

Sen. Sanders also has a problem with religious liberty. In June 2017, he assailed the Christian faith of Russell Vought, President Trump’s nominee to be deputy director of the White House Office of Management and Budget.

What a biased hack piece. Name-calling, truth-stretching and innuendo.

Bernie never claimed he loved Russia.

Knowing people who favor Russia is a false claim of guilt by association.

There is nothing wrong with many facets of Marxism or socialism. Conservatives do themselves a great disfavor by equating the word with dread. The old myth that 'socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried' is totally bogus. There is LOTS of socialism in the world right now and it is VERY successful and quite popular with the citizens of countries which employ it, such as much of Europe, Canada, Japan and Australia.

And if this writer is going to hold Mr. Sanders to things he said and did many decades ago, then will the same standard be applied to Mr. Trump? Seriously? It is quite disingenuous to hold one person to such principles and not another.

And Please. Did this author find a quote of Mr. Sanders SAYING he supported 'The Violent Occupy Wall Street Movement?' In those words? [NO.]

As to Bernie's current platform, which this author only skims over at the end of the hack piece, a Great Earth Nation in 2020 HAS provisions in place for excellent education of ALL the people who aspire to that, Has universal health care, Has universal child care for working parents, DOES tax the rich more to pay for such things (and does not consider those taxes as 'confiscatory,' but necessary!)

The author has no quote of Bernie saying he believes airplanes should be done away with, nor the internal combustion engine, nor burgers. And YES, those conservative myths ARE laughable.

The author also has NO QUOTE of Bernie saying he is against religious liberty. Which should be apparent that he is FOR it, because he also associates with people of ANY religion. (But of course, the author only mentions Bernie's said association with individuals which the author uses to cast a negative light on Mr. Sanders.)

All of which indicates what a total HACK JOB the piece is.

And THAT gives cause to wonder.

That this person is so afraid of Mr. Sanders that he feels the need to travel so far from truth and fairness, gives us cause to wonder just WHY.

Is it because BERNIE RESONATES WITH SO MANY AMERICANS???

Why YES, bingo, hit the nail square on the head.

“In 2015, the top 1 percent of families in the United States made more than 25 times what families in the bottom 99 percent did, according to a paper from the Economic Policy Institute”

In 2015, when Obama was President.

Bernie and his blushing new bride spent their honeymoon in the old USSR.

Old Bernie is a Socialist (state control of all goods and services) which is close to Communism (state ownership of all goods and services).

No Socialist has ever received more than .02% of the vote in a national presidential election.

Get a clue.

You also claimed
that Michelle Obama is a transvestite,
that Joe Biden is a pedophile,
and that a prominent poster on this board enjoys watching kiddie porn.

I do not think your claims carry much weight when you are well known for lying, bearing false witness, and slander.

I am happy that you "feel good". Nobody should go through life feeling bad and you leftists have been feeling bad for a long time. I know you think you are being cute and have trapped me in a corner with this typical left wing false choice. Because I won't agree with you, you like all leftists will assume that I don't think children should be educated.

Of course they should be educated. But, it should be the responsibility of the parents to CHOOSE where to send their kids to school. The free market would provide. And for those who couldn't afford it (because I know that will be your next fall back), there would be charities and private scholarships that would fill the void much like we do for College.

You leftists always turn to government presumably because you think it makes you feel safe? Despite all of their failures you continue to turn to them. Our educational system is nothing more than a propaganda arm for the left wing which I assume is why you are so enamored with it. Stalin and Hitler were big fans of public education too. Just sayin

Don: "you like all leftists will assume that I don't think children should be educated."
Jack: I just want us both to start at the same point. We both think children should be educated, that's where we start.

Don: "The free market would provide."
Jack: I disagree. If each Family had to pay for the schooling of their children, many would end up uneducated. I support a 'universal' education system.

Don: "You leftists always turn to government presumably because you think it makes you feel safe?"
Jack: If we as a Society want to educate every child, we need to have Buildings for the education that don't have 'Shareholders' looking for a Profit on them.

Don: "Our educational system is nothing more than a propaganda arm for the left wing which I assume is why you are so enamored with it. Stalin and Hitler were big fans of public education too. Just sayin"
Jack; Yes. Of course Don. Always check under your bed before going to sleep at night. You just never know nowadays.

Don: "I have no problem with taxes going to pay for roads"
Jack; OK. Good. We have a starting point. We both agree that a Toll Booth every 15 miles is great for the Shareholder, but terrible for the average Commuter.

Don: "Of course, now you think you have the ultimate "gotcha" because according to you leftists, if we agree to "public" roads, it only stands to reason that I should support "socialized" medicine and a living wage and free college because you will twist yourself in knots trying to explain to me how I will benefit from all of this "communal" effort."
Jack; Calm down, Don. You jump from a social need of 'public roads' to why you are against the nationalization of the Energy Sector. Try not to go ballistic here.

Don: "The thing is it has no material effect on me if you have medical insurance and die of a heart attack absent the federal government demanding that no ER can turn you away thus cost shifting your burden. Don: "Now this is where you move on to the police and fire departments because you know if the gobblement didn't step in, we would have private police forces and private fire companies. More false choices by another left wing false wizard."
Jack: No. Actually I was going to bring up 'Central Planning' and the building of the Hoover Dam and/or the Panama Canal.

Don: "I have seen all of these bullshit arguments before. You are not the first. I have swatted them down in the past and I will continue to do so. Next time try not to argue using false choices. You might fare better"
Jack: That's swell, Don. I was trying to take issue by issue and point out that 'Central Planning' by Society is a good thing for America. The CONCEPT of 'communal action' (action by the entire society) on various topics is good for everyone.

At least we agree that the National Interstate System is a good idea ... even though it was copied from Hitler's Autobahns. :(

"The Reichsautobahn system was the beginning of the German autobahns under the Third Reich. There had been previous plans for controlled-access highways in Germany under the Weimar Republic, and two had been constructed, but work had yet to start on long-distance highways. After previously opposing plans for a highway network, the Nazis embraced them after coming to power and presented the project as Hitler's own idea."

It is interesting that educational standards have fallen since Jimmah Cahta founded the Department of Education. Oh let me guess? We don't spend enough money on education right?
