Trump defends ‘a great general’ who fought against the U.S.: Robert E. Lee

He was great General. They still teach about his tactics in war colleges. Obviously anyone on the left is too stupid to separate a great military tactician from politics. Of course, he was one of you Democrats. Something you folks are desperately trying to hide.

That is one of the more stupid posts of the day.

We are approaching honesty here. Now if you could continue to note that the Republican party was largely founded to oppose human
bondage, by the Northern puritan strain, particularly strong in New England, and further, that this was greatly opposed in the south.
Then add that there was a massive switch as a result of the civil rights movements from the era of Kennedy through Nixon whereby
the Republican party became the conservative party in opposition to civil rights, women's rights and pro military and the Democratic party became that
party in support of minority rights, opposing Vietnam and against a militaristic government, then you would start to be other than a troll.

Honesty comes first. You have none. I don't need a confession mind you, anymore than I need Cabana Poon's admissions about climate science.
It simply is. All history and its recordation are on my side, the side of truth.

The linear path is tripartite, north vs south, conservatism vs liberal and civil rights vs "traditional values." Democrat v Republican does
not trace back in a way that is illustrative of claiming the mantle to any ideas. They switched. All that matters is NOW. You are in the shitstain party
that opposes civil rights, endorses a fucking clown who uses misinformation to drive a wedge in America and make you conservative imbeciles
feel angry.

That's a lot of babbling for an idiot, who wrote it for you?

On April 9, 1865, Lee finally had to admit that he was trapped. At the beginning of Lee’s long, combative retreat by stages from Grant’s overpowering numbers, he had 64,000 men. By the end they had inflicted 63,000 Union casualties but had been reduced themselves to fewer than 10,000.

To be sure, there were those in Lee’s army who proposed continuing the struggle as guerrillas or by reorganizing under the governors of the various Confederate states. Lee cut off any such talk. He was a professional soldier. He had seen more than enough of governors who would be commanders, and he had no respect for ragtag guerrilladom. He told Col. Edward Porter Alexander, his artillery commander, . . . the men would become mere bands of marauders, and the enemy’s cavalry would pursue them and overrun many wide sections they may never have occasion to visit. We would bring on a state of affairs it would take the country years to recover from.”

“And, as for myself, you young fellows might go to bushwhacking, but the only dignified course for me would be, to go to Gen. Grant and surrender myself and take the consequences.” That is what he did on April 9, 1865, at a farmhouse in the village of Appomattox Court House, wearing a fulldress uniform and carrying a borrowed ceremonial sword which he did not surrender.

Chester wrote. “There was a general rush of the small crowd to shake hands with him. During these manifestations not a word was spoken, and when the ceremony was through, the General bowed and ascended his steps. The silence was then broken by a few voices calling for a speech, to which he paid no attention. The General then passed into his house, and the crowd dispersed.”

Clarify that.

You don’t understand that in order to be a good leftist and a good TransRighty that is given a pat on the head by leftists one must analyze the past through a 2019 lens without any context

As has been pointed out, it would appear that leftists and jihadists have a penchant for tearing down historical monuments

One could argue that the democrat party is on,y tearing down its own past?

The important point is that Trump is bringing up and celebrating a general who fought against the US government
in the civil war. He does this shit intentionally to maintain his cred with his NAZI, neoconfederate, old white redneck base.

It's disgusting we have a President who stoops so low. Not only that, it's patronizing to the morons. You think Trump has
read Battlecry of Freedom or other reputable source and even cares or knows any of the history of that war? Hell no.

He is exploiting your worst instinct, rubes. The lowest part of what makes you the ignorant evil hillbillies that you are.

Yes, I am aware of their intentions once detached.

Well, VP Alexander Stephens famously gave a speech where he declared that slavery was the cornerstone of the new nation. Of course, we all know that the CSA was actually built upon opposition to abuses committed by America...

We also know of the practices of that era. It was the norm.

jimmymccready That is one of the more stupid posts of the day.

You posted it? Other than that you just prove my point. Again.

Another Sailor post out of context, which makes no sense. :)

So I will add it below.

Sailor He was great General. They still teach about his tactics in war colleges. Obviously anyone on the left is too stupid to separate a great military tactician from politics. Of course, he was on e of you Democrats. Something you folks are desperately trying to hide.

Yes, Lee was a great general. I suppose Patton being maligned is similar to Lee. Lee was non-political. He was pro-Virginia.
