Statues are for praising and honoring. This is honoring soldiers who were trying to end America. I don't know how much an average soldier thought about slavery or the big picture. What they were trying to do was destroy the union by killing the Northern soldiers.The southern soldiers were in the process of ending the American experiment. They were destroying America.
I have never seen that staute, but I still know about the Civil War. I read about it. I did not go look at a statue in the north and think "I now know the history of the Civil War".
