I called it: RICO statute to take down criminal Trump organization

the consensus is, you're a worthless little cunt.......

Do you actually think they knew instantly what happened in Benghazi? Who could have foreseen two separate attack by two different groups?
Ambassador Stevens didn't see it coming.. He loved Libya and Benghazi and had turned down additional security.

Everyone saw it coming you dishonest brain dead hack. Most of our allies had already pulled their diplomatic corps because they KNEW they could not protect them.

every congressional investigation agreed that Hilliary knew what happened in Benghazi before she said it was a spontaneous attack caused by a you-tube video.......she told both the head of Egypt and her daughter it was a terrorist attack before she went on TV and said it wasn't......anyone who pretends otherwise is a mindless lib'rul lying cunt.......

Of course it was a terrorist attack....

That's right you moron; and when did the Benghazi attack hit? Grow a brain snowflake.

All foreign embassies pulled out early in 2011.. and many returned at the end of 2011 or early in 2012.

The attack in Benghazi was in Sept 2012, but there was NO embassy or consulate in Benghazi.. Steven's post was in Tripoli.

Hello reagansghost,

How Giuliani Might Take Down Trump

The parallels between the Mafia and the Trump Organization are striking, and Giuliani perfected the template for prosecuting organized crime.

Any onetime Mafia investigator who listened to the Trump “fixer” Michael Cohen testify Wednesday would have immediately recognized the congressional hearing’s historical analogue — what America witnessed on Capitol Hill wasn’t so much John Dean turning on President Richard Nixon, circa 1973; it was the mobster Joseph Valachi turning on the Cosa Nostra, circa 1963.

The Valachi hearings, led by Senator John McClellan of Arkansas, opened the country’s eyes for the first time to the Mafia, as the witness broke “omertà” — the code of silence — to speak in public about “this thing of ours,” Cosa Nostra. He explained just how “organized” organized crime actually was — with soldiers, capos, godfathers and even the “Commission,” the governing body of the various Mafia families.

Fighting the Mafia posed a uniquely hard challenge for investigators. Mafia families were involved in numerous distinct crimes and schemes, over yearslong periods, all for the clear benefit of its leadership, but those very leaders were tough to prosecute because they were rarely involved in the day-to-day crime. They spoke in their own code, rarely directly ordering a lieutenant to do something illegal, but instead offering oblique instructions or expressing general wishes that their lieutenants simply knew how to translate into action.

Those explosive — and arresting — hearings led to the 1970 passage of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, better known as RICO, a law designed to allow prosecutors to go after enterprises that engaged in extended, organized criminality. RICO laid out certain “predicate” crimes — those that prosecutors could use to stitch together evidence of a corrupt organization and then go after everyone involved in the organization as part of an organized conspiracy. While the headline-grabbing RICO “predicates” were violent crimes like murder, kidnapping, arson and robbery, the statute also focused on crimes like fraud, obstruction of justice, money laundering and even aiding or abetting illegal immigration.

Great thread!

No big surprise it has elicited a massive 'Whataboutism' diversion discussion.

Trump supporters can't handle the truth.

Money laundering, bank fraud, insurance fraud and tax evasion are serious crimes.. Republicans can't ignore those crimes.

Sad, isn't it? The US had no control over what went down in Libya. We just didn't have enough money or soldiers to keep an occupation force in Libya.
we were never going to put boots on the ground. The only reason we bombed Qadafi was because it was our interventionism done on the cheap. There was no political will for an occupation.
Hilary had to persuade Obama to go along with the bombing and not just a No Fly Zone.

Yes it's sad -but actually I'm still mad as a hornet's nest that we completely ( proximate cause) destroyed Libya as a state, and the weapons and terrorism spread all over the Sahel and Maghreb because of what we did.

I don't think that's fair anatta. By December 201i and into the spring of 2012 foreign embassies began retuning to Libya and oil companies began to slowly return and ramp up production. Obviously the international community wanted to get back to the business of living. But, its been a revolving door with embassies alternately closing and returning in 2012- 2014- 2015- 2017. Libya is simply too dangerous. It doesn't work for us in the West to want peace and stability in Libya more than they want it for themselves.

NOTHING short of a huge occupation force could have kept Gaddafi in power.

Hello kudzu,

Here. I will save the Trump supporters the trouble of making a replay to that:

"Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi"

IOW, deny, deflect, divert.

the return of Embassies doesn't mean much because the country was already spiraling into the next civil war.

Libyan Civil War (2014–present)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libyan_Civil_War_(2014–present)

The NTC really wasn't interested in a national government, which led to the rise of the militias for security,
the kidnapping of their P.M. etc. Again we were the proximate cause of all this -we are the ones that did regime change.

I disagree Qadafi wouldn't have beaten back the NTC on his own.
They (NTC) had pick up trucks, Qadafi had heavy weapons and an air force ( no to re-argue this over and over again)
but the 2011 civil was waged by easterners whom didn't really pick up any popular support as they drove west into Tripoli.

Well, his military and police were African mercenaries for a reason.

I'm not 100% sure that is true across the board -but yes he was a dictator and yes he became increasingly paranoid
( turns out he had good reason for that as well)
