Don signing the check is one step away from Trump if anything

Cohen and Mueller narrative is that is a CFR violations ( a wavy area of law).

Trump's surrogates say it was paying her off so his wife didn't find out.
Cohen said "Trump didn't care about winning -he was campaigning for his brand ( infomercial)"

The check is not proof. the proof is whatever Trump and Cohen discussed it was.
AND it has the extra burden of being depository towards winning the campaign -which Cohen said Trump wasn't interested in winning

No collusion, never was.

they would have to show a conspiracy where the payments were explicitly pull from campaign funds as a reason to save the election.
You have to have felony intent. else it's a technical violation

There was a meeting ( recorded by Cohen) where Trump and Cohen discussed the payment, but if I recall Cohen was pushing it to be from campaign funds ( "it's effective this way" he kept saying)and Trump passively went along

again no motive to defraud campaign contributions - more like a motive to hide the payment from his wife

No he is not. If you paid attention, he said he was writing a book and perhaps getting on TV as a talking head. You did not understand it. But his license is gone. Lawyer days are past.He has a chance for money by a book deal. Not much more is possible.
