MILLIONS will be hit with TAXES due to UNDERPAYING for 2018 TAX CUT (TOLD YAH!)

No, the sad part is people actually believing getting their own money back is a "windfall". We should do away with withholding altogether. People should have to pay their taxes quarterly. Of course, that'll never happen, because people would realize just how much they are being fleeced.

That’s right. And if it helps the economy give the money to the people when they earn it and let them spend it then instead of the government sitting on it for months. (As one who works as a 1099 I know better than to spend all I get though)

I agree that thinking getting your own money back is a special happy occasion is wrong. I don't see quarterly paying though as something that corporations (who employ most of us) are going to be happy going along with. They're mandated of course to do the withholding part and have no choice in the matter. How would you work that out?

Why would corporations be upset about being relieved from the accounting burden of employee withholding? I just threw quarterly out there. Make it monthly then.

Congress put the mandate on employers to withhold taxes from their employees' paychecks because they knew that there would be far fewer taxes being sent in if left up to individuals. Just ask any landlord how often he/she has heard the lament about "We couldn't come up with the whole amount this month because ____." I don't think they'd like to increase this burden by sending them in monthly.

Trump and the GOP Tax Plan Screwed Middle Class Parents Out of a Refund

Remember this when you're in the voting booth next year?!!

I am a father of two in a dual-earner household, sitting smack-dab in the middle of the middle-class. It’s February and I am terrified to do my 2018 taxes. It’s not because taxes are hard. It’s not because I’m seeing middle-class Trump supporters become apoplectic on Twitter as they calculate their tax bill. It’s because for the last three years I’ve been a remote worker itemizing my tax returns and, in 2017, House Republicans and President Trump stripped me of crucial deductions. So I hesitate to file. Because I know it’s going to be bad and I don’t want to find out just how bad.

I have, for the last three years enjoyed a refund. And the money I received from that refund often went back to my community. One year my wife and I bought a couch from a local business. The next we bought a bed from a local business. Other times, of course, we’ve used the refund to pay down debt. Either way, I am not expecting a refund this year. I’m expecting to write a check.

I’d think businesses and corporations would be agnostic as to whether they used the current system or didn’t withhold anything from employees paychecks. i dont see them having to change their processes

Remember what? That wealthy folks in a handful of states are paying more? Are you suggesting we reward those who passed the legislation for doing so?

Yup.

Even if my numbers are a little off, it's still far in excess of the standard deduction these goonbats imposed.

It's going to be ironic that trickle down economics is ultimately what will kill the Republican Party.

YEP! We were both OVER the standard deductions but I had no idea that many people deducted that many. But with no kids, I forget about those extra 'tax deductions'.

THEY DID! Ryan is likely CLEANING up with a lobbying job or REPUB connected outfit, having passed the lowest tax rates for the rich since the 20's. Remember what happened at the end of the 20s? He 'sacrificed' his life for AMERICA.

He’s cleaning up for raising taxes on the rich? It’s possible

If you received a tax refund, you gave the government an interest free loan for the entire year. The goal is to break even or to owe no more than 10% of your total tax liability.Withholding of less than 90% of total tax liability will usually result in a penalty.

Some deductions have been eliminated but the tax rates have been lowered. Of course you may pay the higher tax rates since you appear to dislike the lower tax rates.

We will certainly remember, on the next election day, the Democrats who are now the Socialist Party who favors late term abortion up to and after birth (infanticide), open borders and sanctuary cities where Democrat cities protect illegals (non-citizens) who assault, rape and murder American citizens, abolishing cows and airplanes and Capitalism that made America exceptional and larger government, higher taxes, Medicare for all that would cost 10 TRILLION dollars. Yes, we WILL remember on the next election day.

from what I heard, the IRS is cleaning up from the tax changes........at least everyone on the left keeps saying everyone's taxes are going up......for some reason they don't think that's a good thing any more.......they used to.......

WE didn't promise their taxes would go down! WE said it likely would affect VERY FEW. Whoops.

Real estate or state taxes or sales taxes or or or. Whatever was TAKEN AWAY AS DEDUCTIONS changes everyone's bottom line. This isn't hard!

No, it's not about you because you are the one who pushed and propagandized this stupid tax cut as a benefit for everyone.

You're the ones who made promises that the tax cut would result in higher wages (it didn't), a strong market (it isn't), more bonuses and benefits (it didn't), and that it would pay for itself (it hasn't and it won't).

So you are changing your shitty argument mid-stream because all the things you used to pitch this awful policy before never came to pass.

So now you're just acting petty because otherwise, you'd have to admit that you got conned by this thing, and that's just something you aren't prepared to do because your ego couldn't handle it.

Oh so completely wrong! I have no idea how this thing came to pass. Did it get voted on? I suppose so, but I wonder how many democrats voted for it. Believe me, I never thought about how it affected YOU, or anyone else for that matter.

I knew mathematically (and intuitively) this was going to HAPPEN!! If you haven't filed your taxes yet, keep your fingers crossed. It also happened with the BUSH TAX CUTS! All you were doing is using YOUR own refund you usually get in the next year! Now you don't get that and/or you owe more.

This wasn't hard to understand even then.

Why millions of people are getting hit with a surprise tax bill this year

An effort to make the tax bill look better ended up making it look worse.

Americans who are accustomed to receiving an income tax refund tend to file their taxes early — often in late January or early February when all the paperwork becomes available — but this year many early filers are finding to their surprise that they actually owe money to the IRS.

A tweet rounding up other tweets from displeased early filers went viral because the user, @smarxist, deliberately singled out people who are mad at President Donald Trump for raising their taxes.

PLS CLICK AND READ THE TWITTER SAMPLINGS. THERE ARE SO MANY, I COULDN'T C&P the chunk here, I got an error message.

HA HA HA HA HA . trumptards expected refunds and they ended up getting a tax bill. Well what did you expect you stupid fucking cunts? How else are the republicunts going to pay for the $1.5 trillion tax cuts for the filthy rich and the $80 BILLION for the border wall that trump promised Mexico would pay for???

You voted for this so I sincerely hope the IRS come after you for the money you owe them. And if it results in you being evicted from your home - even better.

WOW. Forgot to take your meds again I see. This thread is about taxes - NOT abortion and NOT asylum seekers. But if you want to talk about other matters , lets talk about the PEE PEE tapes, trump colluding with Russia, trump fucking stormy daniels while married to the slovakian whore and his alleged rape of a 13 year old girl.

Oh and BTW - I want Ivanka's children to be DNA tested. I am pretty sure Jared's DNA will NOT be in any of them. But who is their real father? the orange dotard? Beavis? or Butthead? Or Roy Moore?

You guys are clearly doing your taxes wrong if you're getting less or having to pay. Why don't you just take advantage of the new private jet deduction?
