I would be interested to see the evidence for that.

Soviet forces occupied eastern Poland in September 1939 when the Soviet Union was an ally of Nazi Germany.

The Germans attacked on June 22 1941, taking the Soviets completely by surprise. Soviet forces were not in a defensive posture because Stalin had refused to believe warnings from western intelligence. Within weeks the Germans had penetrated hundreds of miles. Soviet forces retreated if they could, but millions were surrounded and taken prisoner. It appeared to be a matter of months at most before the Soviet Union collapsed.

Are we to believe that Stalin's chief thought was: "Drop everything, we must evacuate the Jews!"


Btw, I have seen this narrative used by HOLOCAUST DENIERS. They say the Jews all went to Russia, hardly any were exterminated.

No, but, in fairness, he did evacuate a lot of vulnerable people very fast. The Soviet Union inherited the Russian policy of the 'scorched earth' - burn everything and move east - and Stalin personally mattered perhaps (like Trump now) rather less than was supposed, and did have a lot of sensible underlings who thought ahead whatever their personal danger. Certainly I have never heard anyone who knows about it seriously deny that a very great number of Jews were saved from the Nazi murder gangs by Soviet action.
 
Oh yea the Russian were great during and after the war.
They were great when they invade Finland, invaded the Baltic States and the eastern bloc countries.
More than 2 million Jews fled Russia between 1880 to 1920. I wonder why.

The Stalin regime was no different than Hilter.
He allegedly saved 1.7 million but murdered 3-9 million and occupied numerous countries after the war.

Can’t wait for the monument to be erected by the far left. San Francisco would be a good location.

We were discussing whether the Soviet Union saved a number of Jews from Hitler. Are you totally unable to discuss any specific fact without these senseless floods of rightist emotionalism? Our opinion of political regimes is one thing, specific facts about their actions another.
