When the amount of needed process hearings exceeds immigration judges ability to grant a hearing,
they get released in the USA.

Well that's one of the reasons I said that I would turn them away. We shouldn't be taking in so many immigrants, especially from the third world.
However, the "crisis" being referred to here is the caravan of immigrants coming here asking for legal asylum. That's not a crisis, we can just turn them away. And considering that immigration, both legal and illegal, is steadily declining, this is even less of an issue than it's been before.

but we can't just turn them away. Courts rule they have a right to go to ports of entry and petition for asylum.
But we can't process them fast enough like for caravans and migrations
So they cross illegally and get arrested and then claim asylum. Again courts rule they can't be denied that.

There isn't much coverage but what I saw was clearly a detention facility ( albeit a nice one) to hold the illegals waiting for a hearing. I think i saw a 170k figure on that ! Our dirty secret of immigration process.

It's gotten so backed up before they had to be "released. "Catch and release" into the US ( never to come to court)

I don't want to get too into semantics here, but that's not really what Cortez was talking about. She was talking about the caravan immigrants coming here legally. Now, are they technically coming here illegally, waiting to get caught, and then applying for asylum? Maybe. And processing all those people does put a strain on the system.
But even if that's the case, we're still talking about people who are coming here and going straight to the detention center, not getting around security, AND there is still the fact that the immigration number has gone down, and is still declining.
I get it, Trump is a politician, he has to use words like "crisis" to get people's attention. I'm sure we can find examples of Cortez doing the same thing.

there is a lot less catch and release because of the higher detention space -yes.
But they drop a thousand here and there in Texas and so forth.

The real problem is the illegals. The come in as family groups. kids and adults -maybe or maybe not relatives
if they get caught they have to get processed in 20 days -not up to a year like adults
again more catch and release.. plus the conservative estimate of 20k / month that do not get caught

I do agree that illegals are a problem, and I'm not even against building the wall, I just don't think it's the massive issue Trump makes it out to be.
