Gas prices in the news

So are you saying that 1960 prices are the benchmark which we should strive to replicate?

Why is 1960 the magical number? What is so important about 1960 and gasoline prices?

What she's trying to do isn't valid in any way. Technology has changed and the quality of gasoline is much better than in 1960. In fact, we don't have leaded gasoline any more.

There are lots of things that we have today that we had in 1960. If kudzu does the same thing with them as she did with gas prices, they'd be higher in price than we actually pay for them. Technology has done a lot to improve the quality and reduce the price.

No.. I'm saying gasoline is still a bargain and you don't seem to understand time value of money.

Apparently you don't understand the value of technology.

Perhaps that's why you lefties keep arguing for a higher minimum wage. You don't take into account that the jobs where the minimum is paid today require the same basic skill set as that job did 50 years ago. You ignore that the jobs you use as examples to whine about a wage gap involved having to get a better education rather than continuing to do low skilled things a typical 5 year old can be taught to do.

Are you an expert in oil markets now too?

So now you want domestic oil production? Are you a Sarah Palin DRILL BABY DRILL aficionado now?

Yeah I am .. I grew up in Ghawar . I grew up in an oil camp so I know more than most and because I get it, I have made a lot of money in oil stocks.

Sara Palin is too bloody stupid for words and killed 4 Exxon projects before she bailed out as Alaska's governor.

The reason that rig counts increased to the highest in 40 years is because the ppb was $100.. That's when oilmen invest in increased production.

Man.. you are a worm..

You don't have a clue about oil or why gasoline is one of our remaining bargains.

If we tagged the min wage to inflation, it would be close to 18 bucks an hour. If we had a higher min wage, our tax burden for food stamps and other programs to help the poor would greatly diminish.
The gas price is not that big a story, but why it is dropping is.

Well, I doubt the shale producers will expand operations with prices hovering between $40-$45.. Lift and extraction costs in the US are still the highest in the world.

I remember gas prices got exceedingly low a couple of times during the Obama years.

I remember paying $1.25 a gallon for it, at least, once during Obama's term.

I remember on the National Evening news watching a news clip where a Gas Station in Arlington, TX gave gas away for free for the entire weekend once, during the time when gas was $1.25! They ended up having to call the cops as people were fighting over pumps, and the line was a mile long just to get in!

Is that so?

I vaguely remember hearing a story about some place giving away gas as part of some radio promotion a few years back. Wouldn't surprise me if shit gout out of hand.. Even right now, out local gas is 40 cents below the national average and 20 cents below the state average. The latter spread isn't unusual but being this far blow the national average is.

I'm certainly not an expert in economics, but I know how the oil business works.

Yet no proof of any claim you've made related to it. In fact, you've provided nothing to support any claim you've made about what you've done or what you know.

Don't you have a brain?

Do you have any proof of YOUR claims about what you've done? You keep saying you've done all sorts of things. When are you going to provide something to support those claims. Someone that questions whether or not another person has brains should prove she has one by backing up what she claims. Anything?

The price of a gallon of Gasoline is so far removed from the Oval Office, it is almost a ridiculous charge that a president has anything to do with it.

Looking back through history, there have been exceptions to the rule though!

But, if some credible person, would like to tell us what Donald Trump has to do with the current price of a gallon of gas, I would listen.

Doesn't mean I would agree- or disagree automatically based on my politics.

So, someone- please convince me with facts! LOL!
