The 'Islamophobia' problem

No, as a scientist I know that ignorance can also breed complacency. I also know that my religion embraces science.
Ignorance breeds many negative things.

Yes, it finally has, but it took them awhile and in some aspects religion is still rejecting science.

"Well unlike you I am able to differentiate between moderate Muslims and extremists. Seems to me you spent your life living in 5 star hotels and schmoozing with the oligarchs. I doubt that ever encountered poor people especially Muslims." HM #179
I've read that Islam opposes $borrowing.
But $banking opens doors of opportunity for others that Muslims would then be without.
That puts Muslims at an intrinsic disadvantage in a world that is intrinsically competitive.

But setting aside the ideological self-infliction there's the cultural poison.

When a cartoon was published of Mohammed with a fuse lit bomb in his turban the pan-Islam rioting was so adamant human life was lost.

BUT !!

When in the name of Islamic righteousness the attacks of 09/11/01 were perpetrated pan-Islam was nearly silent.

This dichotomy reveals Islam's true priority; that the criminal loss of 3,000 innocent lives is less of an outrage than a cartoon.

Yes well they didn't kill 100 million people either. They don't appear to be on the ascendant in my neighborhood. Hell we hardly even notice them. That Mosque has been in our neighborhood a long time. Over 20 years.

Again you don't have a clue, the security services are tracking literally hundreds of potential terrorists. Have you forgotten the Westminster Bridge, Ariana Grande concert and other attacks in the last couple of years? Well we bloody well haven't, there will be another sooner or later you can take that to the bank.

Tom...I live in a nation filled with Rednecks who love Budweiser and Guns. Both of which are easily available. What could possibly go wrong there?

They do more damage by accident than Jihadist do on purpose. I mean get back to me when you have a serious problem! ;)

Oh yea and if you don't believe me we can hook you up with ILA or USF911 to go on a pick up truck drive. Free Budweiser and ammo.

"Luke 6:34-36 New International Version (NIV)
34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

The Koran and the Hadith have numerous passages about mercy, compassion, charity, and tolerance as well.

I suspect you were completely unaware of that, since you appear to suggest the Bible is unique in this regard.

Let's face it, the holy books of all the great monotheistic faiths have some of the most elegant words ever written by humans -- as well as some bat shit crazy stuff too.

One on my favorites, because it is so clear, so lucid, so elegant, is from the moral tenets of the Zoroastrian faith:

"Good thoughts, good words, good deeds"

You basically are not going to be able to top that.

We are not America, but we do have thousands of potential terrorists, many back from Syria and ISIS biding their time. Only a couple of weeks ago I saw some bomb disposal landrovers parked down the road. I think about my sons all the time and worry about them living in London, you don't have children so you likely cannot empathise.

The Arab world was not silent after 9-11. Did you read any of the Arab newspapers?

Never heard of her, cops and wannabe cops are murdering unarmed black folk because they are scared of black people.

Alveda King is the niece of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King. :palm:

Living up there in Canada, ... I'm sure you never even met a Black person in real life. But you white liberal Canucks sure enjoy filling your prisons with aboriginals. :palm:

You're a dumbass :palm:

I posted Luke 6:34 because it precedes the parable of the pounds (minas) and provides context. It condemns usury and suggests the King in the parable enjoys God's mercy even tho the King shows no mercy, IMO.

Many gospel stories are written cryptically ... in order to avoid being arrested by the Jewish or Roman gov't. Sorry it all went over your tiny little head.

Your Zoroastrian diddy is meaningless ... as "good" is a subjective term.

Because too many hillbilly's here don't know any history. If I had used "Italians" they more than likely would have come back with "What do Eyetalians have to do with fascism?". There's a half assed decent possiblity though that they have heard of Nazi Germany.

Even the poor whites you hate soooo much ... have the internet, dumbass racist elitist.

a) I don't read or speak Arabic.
But you err severely in conflating the press with the People.
The U.S. press may be harsh on Trump. But the People elected him. So we can't judge the U.S. by what NYT or WaPo says about Trump. We must judge the U.S. on basis of the leader we've chosen.

b) I didn't assert Arabia was silent. My observation was: " pan-Islam was nearly silent."

BUT !!

c) That comment was SPECIFICALLY in context of the Mohammed / turban cartoon.

It's a contrast. Your re presentation of a one-sided contrast is silly.

More to the point other groups are more particular about the reputation they earn. Catholic nuns for example preserve their good reputation by not doing bad.

"Honor has not to be won; it must only not be lost." Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860), German philosopher

All Islam bears the burden for all peace-loving Muslims not unifying and rejecting violence, particularly violence in the name of Islamic / Islamist terrorism. They should have strangled ISIL in the crib.

You are one racist elitist pos.

You're much more likely to get killed in a liberal controlled city.

Well said, keep it up! She almost always attempts to downplay Muslim extremism yet claims to be a conservative. I just can't work her out.

I’ve long considered Islamophobia to be an absurd junk term. That goes for homophobia as well. If one isn’t a homophobe are they not a homophile lol?

-phobia means an irrational fear. It’s a legitimate term that’s been hijacked by the lefties to use as a rhetorical bludgeon to stifle debate.

If this board is any indication righties do seem to have an irrational fear of Muslims... not just terrorists but all Muslims.

Maybe the term should be changed to Salifiphobia? You should bear in mind that we have have more Muslims than the US, despite have a fifth of the population and one fortieth of the land area. I don't think most Americans appreciate that crucial difference. There are towns in England where half the population is Muslim, is there anywhere even remotely like that in the US.

Dearborn MI has a lot of Arab-Americans who are both Christian and Muslim but not half the population. How have the Muslims in the English towns affected them?
