So while romantic love did play a part in Mesopotamian marriages, it is true that, according to the customs and expectations of Mesopotamian society, marriage was a legal contract between the father of a girl and another man (the groom, as in the case of the bride auction where the groom paid the girl's father the bride-price) or, more commonly, between two families, which functioned as the foundation of a community. The historian Bertman writes,

This was, no doubt, the `official’ view of marriage and there is no evidence to suggest that a man and woman decided to simply get married on their own (although there is evidence of a couple living together without marrying). Bertman writes, “Every marriage began with a legal contract. Indeed, as Mesopotamian law stated, if a man should marry without having first drawn up and executed a marriage contract, the woman he `marries’ would not be his wife…every marriage began not with a joint decision by two people in love but with a negotiation between representatives of two families” (276). Once the marriage contract was signed in the presence of witnesses, the ceremony could be planned.

The wedding ceremony had to include a feast in order to be considered legitimate. The course of the marriage process had five stages which needed to be observed in order for the couple to be legally married:

The engagement/marriage contract;
Payment of the families of the bride and groom to each other (the dowry and bride-price);
The ceremony/feast;
The bride moving to her father-in-law’s home;
Sexual intercourse between the couple with the bride expected to be a virgin on her wedding night and to become pregnant.
If any one of these steps was not performed, or not performed properly (such as the bride not becoming pregnant), the marriage could be invalidated. In the event the bride turned out not to be a virgin, or could not conceive, the groom could return her to her family. He would have to return her dowry to her family but would get back the bride-price his family had paid.

If you're a Trump supporter then you're being motivated by hate of minorities. Trump is a carbon copy of Hitler's tactics used to bring the German people over to his side. And the reason why it's working for Trump is because the American people truly have a lot to complain about as they get ripped off by the 1%.

I'm saying that's a given! You may not understand it but now you should and so if you don't agree make your point with a rational argument. First of all though, you will have to say if you're a Trump supporter?

I'm not ruling out that you might have other reasons for supporting Trump, but I will need convincing. So it's up to you.

That is absolute nonsense, when you draw comparisons to Trump, and Hitler, you are done! I do not care what color you are, or where you come from, as long as you are a decent person! As a child of Christ I see people not race or color, I see decency or lack there of so your argument is null and void.

Should I be worried about the 1%, when the liberal democrats think they should spend my money for me, because they think they know better, and realize free stuff is a vote getter? A 1 percenter gave me my job, guy put up his capital, and started in his basement, should I hold that he made something of himself against him, and want him punished?

No. It's Arizona in the 21st Century, where jack-booted, book-burning liberal mobs of PC thought police patrol the streets looking for any way to portray themselves as victims for having to tolerate actual equality, while persecuting any form of expression that inadequately attacks the rights of white people, Christians, males, and/or Americans.

Notice that this is the opposite of what happens to other religions when they are required to violate their beliefs or be denied the right to work.

In fact I believe it might actually teach the opposite. When Christians start acting more like Jesus, and less like hypocrites, I'd gladly let them do things their own way.

I just realized you're blaming liberals for stuff in Arizona. Arizona has had super majority red before, and is pretty red still, if I'm not mistaken. You talk Christian, but are flinging hate. :thinking:
