Put families on the street or raise taxes on the rich.

You're right of course. It's not about Walmart and I only pursued that angle because the point needs to be made that Americans can't afford to shop elsewhere. So if Walmart isn't the topic, the big store that replaces Walmart is.

And now to swithc to illegal aliens! I've told you that American business isn't viable to a very large extent without very cheap labour. And so if American business is even going to attempt to compete with China's cheap labour, it's going to take equally as cheap labour.

Capitalism demands a free market, and of course all capitalists agree. You can't be trying to depress the free labour market by preventing them coming into your country. Big business isn't onside with that.

Your country can make the cheap labourers 'legal' by continuing with accepting immigrants from other countries. And of course America will because there is a demand. And that's not taking into account the benefits of illegal aliens who can be employed much cheaper than legals. In fact, entire families of illegals can work for a bag of beans a day.

Now we get back to the big store that sells cheap goods to Americans. Would you suppose that big store be curtailed from wholesale purchases from China?

My country!!

This must be that you don't live in the US, therefore your "opinions" are worthless. :D

I live in Canada. You're incapable of a rebuttal of anything I've told you so you have invented a way of dodging the debate. I took it that you wre a real and proud conservative but it turns out you're all hat and no cowboy.

You might want to deal with the problems Canada is having and will probably continue to have, rather then spending your time trying to discuss things you know nothing about. :good4u:

Oh great. Just what we don't need. a Frostback telling us, a Constitutional Republic, how to run things. Why don't you just go back to your Labatt's and Maple Laffs, eh Gord?

It's all about capitalism:

In the U.S. – which also places a high value on individualism – there’s no real cultural equivalent of hygge. Income is generally associated with happiness; yet even though the country’s GDP has been rising and its unemployment rates have been declining, levels of happiness in the U.S. have been steadily decreasing.

What’s going on?

Income inequality continues to be an issue. But there’s also been a marked decrease in interpersonal trust and trust toward institutions like the government as well as the media. In the end, more disposable income doesn’t hold a candle to having someone to rely on in a time of need (something that 95 percent of Danes believe they have).

At its core, hygge is about building intimacy and trust with others.

Americans could probably use a little more of it in their lives.

It's just a good job Americans don't care. They would rather be free, except they don't know what that means?

But we don't need, and don't want socialism! The founders fled overreaching government so why should we embrace it now?

I really do not know why a person bothers with such ignorance save for the hope that one day the light might shine in that dark hole you call a "mind', and then you might just see what the Founders saw. Socialism, as you continuously whine about, did not exist in the form we know of it today at the time of the founding of the country. And even if it did the Founders would have embraced it. In fact, in numerous ways they did. Free healthcare for the poor, housing for the poor, free education, and the list goes on. What they did oppose, and quite strongly, was the taxing of the poor, and income inequality, both the results of unfettered capitalism, and oppressive communism. Unfortunately you lack the intellect to understand the difference, and consistently ignore the truth about your falsehoods in order to perpetuate the fantasy you wish to live in.

The country as a whole did quite well under the system in place in the 50's to the 80's. The poor were cared for, the debts were paid, wealth was distributed properly, etc. And then some fucking nutbag came along with what was called "trickle down" economics, and the whole system has been screwed ever since. Maybe Reagan was indulging in the drugs he was selling to others.

Anyway, we are now at a crossroads where the 1% own 83% of the market. And contrary to your ignorance, it was not the Democrats that created this situation. It was the mindless ones on their knees before their master, people like you, who were too weak to stand up for the country, just their masters. You are already a slave just as those oppressed by communism are. It is the reality that as more wealth is taken from the middle class, and given to the 1-10%, even you will become the oppressed class

You don't mind if I slice and dice this steaming pile of bullshit, do ya? First of all, tax rates were at a confiscatory rate of 90 fucking percent! How can anyone live when the government steals 90 PERCENT of my paycheck? Second, we were just coming off of WWII and were the ONLY game in town until the Japs and Germans came along with better, more efficient cars and steel and began to kick our asses in that arena. Third, union excesses and piss poor quality are what killed heavy industry. Not the GOP.

With the right going after every safety net from SS ,medicare, Medicaid ,food support ,housing support, disability , generally all of this countries safety nets . Should the right get what they want or should we raise taxes on the wealthy. To take care of it. You won't get far here with everyone's a cheat routine, without credible sources supporting that scenario.
You don't understand. They need to cut all that stuff to pay for their giving the country to the rich. Don't you understand? The rich are going to take care of us all!!!

country's.

Strange that you think a tax increase only generates revenue if it is on the wealthy. A dollar raised from lottery tickets or cigarettes is no different than a dollar raised from capital gains.
The wealthy are the only ones who can afford a tax increase.

Again a right wng useful idiot speaks out of his ass since that is were his brain is at.

You do know that there were several levels of tax rates a the time, right? Do you even have a fucking clue as to how much income you needed to hit that 90% rate (and the top rate was 73%, not 90. It did hit 90 during the war). I believe it was a rate designed for one man, and that was John Rockefeller.

Second, we were just coming off of WWII and were the ONLY game in town until the Japs and Germans came along with better, more efficient cars and steel and began to kick our asses in that aren

Since I know you cannot prove this line of shit I am not even going to ask you to do so.

My father was a iron worker in a steel mill, and I would love to have heard you talk about the poor quality of steel he produced. What you do, in your usual state of asinine ignorance is ignore the Chinese flooding the market with cheqap steel that destroyed the American competition. And why was it that brought about the build up of the Chinese economy?

Your false dichotomy notwithstanding, higher tax rates do not necessarily result in higher tax revenues. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are an an unsustainable path and need to be reformed or they will become insolvent. Rather than try to work with Republicans to reform them, Democrats prefer to make accusations of throwing granny off a cliff.

Funny, every other industrialised society on the planet has single-payer health insurance and I haven't heard that any are going broke. In fact, most of them spend less on healthcare on a per capita basis and have better outcomes.

Uhh, Greece ring a bell? And last I heard, most of these countries are abandoning government run healthcare.
