The Ten State Governorships Most Likely To Flip to Blue.

Diversity Makes Greatness
Here's something else to watch tonight, if watching the election results:

"Just like in the battle for the House of Representatives, Democrats are almost certain to pick up governor’s mansions this November. The most competitive races keep tilting their way.

Nine of the 10 races most likely to flip parties are held by Republicans, spanning the country from Iowa to New Mexico. And while none makes our top 10, open seats in traditionally conservative states, such as Georgia, Kansas, South Dakota and Oklahoma, are all competitive."

Washington Post

10 Ohio
9 Iowa
8 Wisconsin
7 Florida
6 Nevada
5 Maine
4 Michigan
3 New Mexico
2 Alaska
1 Illinois

Bring it on!

And more...

And the results are in:

10 Ohio R
9 Iowa R
8 Wisconsin D
7 Florida R
6 Nevada D
5 Maine D
4 Michigan D
3 New Mexico D
2 Alaska R
1 Illinois D

6 of 10 go to Dems.

Nice to see Wisconsin flip blue. Scott Walker had been on a tear to destroy public education as he gave away millions on tax breaks to big corporations.

Not on the list: Kansas governorship also flipped to blue, repudiating the disastrous tax cuts for the rich which failed miserably and left the State financially strapped and downgraded the State credit rating. It can now be concluded that Koch brothers funded Gov Brownback's 'Great Tax Cutting Experiment' is a dismal failure.

For Democrats this was the most important election result of the night. Dems will now largely control redistricting, after the 2020 census, in the nations three largest population centers. The North East, Great Lakes, and Pacific Coast with significant gains in VA and NC. They GOP held the key swing States if Ohio and FL.

Before Dems take a victory dance Repubs consolidated their strength among rural and working class voters.

Well observed.

The resilience of Trump's support is bouyed by a good economy; although the deficit that has generated is a growing problem for continuation of irresponsible tax policy. That could mean the economic gains are to be short lived, possibly setting up a troubling situation for Trump in 2020.

To a certain degree but me thinks Democrats discount the vast sea of rednecks out there and continue to pay a steep price for doing so.

Hello Mott,

So freaking true.

I recall in 2000 when I realized W had the redneck vote how serious the trouble the nation was in.

It is very good to know that Democrats will be able to reverse some of the gerrymandering.

Florida also changed their Constitution yesterday by referendum vote to return voting rights to convicted felons who have served their time, paid their debt to society. If the new electorate had been able to vote yesterday, it is entirely likely that Florida would have flipped the governorship blue. Gillum lost be 55K votes, but Florida just reinstated the voting rights of 1.4 million people who have paid their complete debt to society. That sector is expected to lean heavily blue.
