Early exit polls-we can call it

I called it already, let the impeachment hearings begin.

The people call their first witness, Stormy Daniels.

Hello Sirthinksalot,

What does it mean if the Republicans buck a longstanding historical trend and the voters decide to keep them in power?

Trump will still believe he has a mandate for social injustice and environmental destruction. He has no conscience. He'll do what is good for rich people because he is rich. If he has to help other rich people, so be it. He really only cares about himself. That much is very clear.

Every nite, msnbc's Steve Kornacki would explain how even if Trump accomplished the impossible ... and won every toss-up ... he could not get more than 180 electoral votes.

:dunno:

Kornacki is a journalist and not a pollster. He makes projections and assumptions the data cannot do.

That is not happening, but if it did it is because Trump lost seats in 2016 and had fewer to lose. Most winning presidents pick up seats in the presidential election and win "extra" seats that party would not have won without a lot of straight-ticket voting for the winner. Those "extra" seats are then lost in the next mid-term.

Yet, the results of his presidency thus far have been better for middle and lower class Americans than Obama's. And if you're being honest you'll admit the Obama presidency was better for the rich than the middle class and poor. The stock market did reasonably well under Obama, while non government job growth was anemic at best.

And Obama was a more budget-responsible President. The current economic expansion has come partly at the cost of charging it to the young, the deficit climbing under Trump. And that was so unnecessary because Obama already had the economy on track to build toward the current performance. If you can't pay down the debt during a good economy there's no way it can be controlled during the next recession. Totally lacking in good budget guidance.

Obama was a President, not a fucking clown

Most of the budget is outside of Republican's control, ie entitlements and debt service. And let's not forget the near zero interest rates under Obama being raised back up to more normal levels.

A "journalist" speculating and assuming ... hmmm. So he pulled that shit out of thin air, huh?

Hello Sirthinksalot,

I strongly disagree. Republicans had the votes to end the hand-outs IF THEY DARED. And had they done so, they would have lost the Senate, too.

And let's not forget the near zero interest rates under Obama being raised back up to more normal levels.

That's normal during a recovery from a recession. It's the right thing to do.

They had 60 votes in the Senate? :whoa:

There's no reason to be flippant.

I don't really see what good that is. So what. Delay things for a while. It can't go on forever.

Sorry, you're right. I try to keep my tone polite when debating with you, as you keep your tone very respectful with everyone. But a filibuster doesn't merely delay. It can be used to kill legislation.

Thanks for your candor. I really do appreciate it. We can't change what others do, but we can certainly control ourselves. I think if we all do, it makes America greater.

But a filibuster doesn't merely delay. It can be used to kill legislation.

Only in some cases when the timing is right.
