Why Is It So Hard To Get Mentally Ill Into Treatment

I got this figured out. And it can be done with Solar power. Instead of of pondering putting electric car charging stations all over the country, how about solar powered electro shock therapy stations? Self serve of course........

In California?

Really good article on three different bills attempting to address the issue. No easy answers when trying to decide between protecting their civil rights and being able to get needy people off the street. Not a sexy topic but anyone who has spent time in California knows how big an issue this is.

Well if we got all the mentally ill into treatment we'd have to shut down the Government and all major Corporations. This would be a problem!

I assume we are talking about the 65.5 million people that voted for Hillary, that's a lot of mentally ill people, not enough doctors to go around

PmP please show us that the liberal overwhelming were clamoring to put subjects in outpatient status instead of continuing institutional programs.

Reagan threw the people out of mental health hospitals. They wandered around. Many wound up in prisons, which are the worst places on earth to help those with mental problems. It is like it was when we just put them in nut houses til they died. out of sight, out of mind.

The idea was that “community-based care” was much more humane than the often institutional brutality found in state hospitals run for the mentally ill in particular, and private hospitals as well.
there is extremely little therapeutic "community based care" and that won't help the mentally ill who lack coping skills

I think the line is the important part. Who decides? How soon before that line creeps towards behaviors that the government doesn't like such as "denying climate change"?

Then they came for the for the foil hat wearers and still I said nothing.

I remember who was clamoring for Reagan to do what he did and it wasn't the conservatives........

This is a legitimate point, shocking coming from you.

The ignored truth though is that the arrogance of the practictioners of the mental health industry led them to believe they could cure everyone without institutions.

President Kennedy's sister was in state institutions her whole life.
This was an attempt to ameliorate the situation.

Not enough people care about the Mentally Ill, here in America, until a mentally ill person loads up an AR-15, invades a Kindergarten somewhere, and kills a bunch of pre-schoolers and teachers.....................

..............Or until we elect someone who is Mentally Ill to be our president!

Then we get upset about it, and want something done about it!
