NFL Players Kneel, Raise Fists During National Anthem in Preseason Games

I can't believe these jocks still can't comprehend the difference between what you do on your job and what you do on your free time.

That being said I've pretty much given up hope for my hometown Miami Fins so I'll root for the Da Who Dat Nation. When I lived there for those 8 years back in the Manning and Mortensen days we all wore our "I'm a Who Dat" stickers and even wore the brown bags over our heads when they were doing poorly. Dem Cajuns wrote the book on enthusiasm.

Minorities aren't treated the same in many areas from law enforcement, or from the justice system in general.

And disrespecting the flag is going to change problems in the justice system? What about Steven Avery? Wasn't he white?

Well, as usual, you're moving the goalpost.

People keep talking about other ways they could bring attention to the issue. Had they never kneeled, and had a player gone on Morning Joe, literally no one would have talked about it.

I can't speak to how effective it has turned out in practice, but at minimum, they got MILLIONS of people to at least talk about it, and consider it. Maybe the focus isn't where they would want it to be right now, but years from now, it will probably be viewed as an important first step. It's not unlike the civil rights actions of the '60's - many times, the first protests will not have tangible, positive results. But in the end, they're steps toward the goal.

Wrong. No one is talking about their "issue" they are talking about how stupid it is, and what NFL can do to stop it. Generally. No one knows what they are protesting. Take a random poll. Do a Jimmy Kimmel on the street. Guarantee 90% won't know.

See Congress you fucking dolt.

OOPS; it looks like I hit a nerve, regarding the NFL criminals.

Of course; you could attempt to compare percentages of those "criminal Congressmen" and how many of them still have their elected post, to the percentage of "NFL criminals".

Whatever lol.

See how this is going? Trump is president and not a wizard: he has no magic wand he can wave to make social injustice disappear. So, he offers a fig leaf to the kneelers instead and makes a practical offer to pardon some folks.

One which they rejected.

Here ya go, USF.

Hey - maybe you'll show some consistency, and not be the consummate partisan hack?

Nah. WHATEVER.

LOL

Sounds as though the players protesting have really triggered the abomination, Donald Trump...and his deplorable supporters.'

GREAT!

That surely was part of their plan...

...AND WAS A GREAT SUCCESS.

Who exactly should one be voting for to ensure racism doesn't exist anymore or to corrects its manifestations among the police and public at large etc?

Raise your children not to be racist and that's more than half the battle won.
Who said anything about voting racism out of existence?

...but has yet to address their intentions.

It means they really aren't directly addressing their concerns to those they are protesting.

RB...you seem triggered.

I will assume the "they" and "their" in that sentence means the dozens and dozens of players who have participated in the protests...although you should have made that a bit clearer originally.

Some have...some may not have.

Colin Kaepernick certainly HAS.

I've read comments from many others who HAVE.

So...what the hell are you saying?

trump said he would consider pardons, not that he would definitely do pardons.

Well derp, he would have to ‘consider’ them first, to see if a pardon was warranted.

Trump has already pardoned that woman for the Kardashian’s. Why won’t the kneelers work with him? There’s simply no excuse.

Triggered? You don't see me increasing the size of my print in an attempt to make my replies more vivid.
That said, wouldn't they be better off protesting at the police departments they have concerns with? How about organizing protests in Washington?
Yes, they've garnered attention, but they have pissed off a lot of football fans by disrespecting the National Anthem, which by the way, has nothing to do with police shootings.

Oh, is that what you consider being an indication of being triggered? In your case, I just use it to make it visible to you. You seem unable to read words of average font size.

I don't think so...and apparently neither do they.

The message seems to be getting through loud and clear, RB. I think you realize that...but this is just not one of your good days.

Yes, they've garnered attention,

LOTS! (See how that works?)

"Pissing people off" is a very powerful tool.

I actually use it here in the forum!

It works.

And what they are doing is working also...which, I suspect, is why folk like you are pissing and moaning about it so much.

Have a nice day Frank. Maybe you'll be in a better mood tomorrow morning?

Ya never can tell.

But I'm gonna be up late tonight...and I gotta be at work at 5 am tomorrow...so I wouldn't count on it.

I will try to stop in to say "Hi" before heading out in the morning.
