Secondly, the financial crimes Manafort, Gates, and Flynn have already been arrested and indicted for provide the motive for their conspiracy with Russia to attack the US elections. Money is the motivation for them. It establishes the motives as to why these people betrayed the country.

That was a lie - there was a lot of contact with Russia.

We know according to the Mueller indictments that Roger Stone was talking to the GRU and the Trump campaign. We also know from the Mueller indictments that at least one Congressional candidate was talking to Russians about hacked info.
