"Trump Is Training His Base to Hate NATO and Like Putin"

Despite your claims both Trump and Putin are duly elected -
counter to your claim they do not have consent of the governed .

SMH@Russia-phobia was a generalized reaction to the cartoonish depictions of them here.
But I grant you that Russia-phobia has dug in deep to American's psyche, and not just the deep state now.

Putin is "duly elected" just as Assad is "duly elected"

"Russiaphobia" dominates Republican/Conservative ideology for close to seven decades, and now, even though Russia is once again asserting itself and advancing upon other nations, Republicans/Conservatives are now telling is Putin is a "fine guy" and believable?

And the only explanation for this sudden reversal is those same Republicans/Conservatives being easily played by a demogogue

are you serious? Now we are supposed to judge whether or not to deal with Putin because of how he was elected?
Same with Assad - we deal with those in power; we don't tell other countries how to run their elections.

Russiaphobia is a staple of the left.
It was a convenient way to excuse Hillary's loss instead of blaming her shitty campaign.
Now it's infected virtually every Democrat in DC. Of course you can throw in the #neverTrumps as well

There are real concrete good reasons to improve US/Russian relations -the hyperbole interferes with clear realpolitik

First off, the opening point was to correct the previous poster's remark that Putin was "duly elected" and had zero relevance to dealing with Putin

Your second comment is bogus, it is amazing how seemingly every conservative defense of Trump eventually regurgitates the election. Get over it, it was close to two years ago, nobody cares about Hillary, nobody is looking backwards, it is just a lame scapegoat used to attempt to rationalize Trump's blunders

And lastly, "improving Russian/American relations" doesn't have to include dissing your historical allies while praising the autocrat. Currently, Trump is giving Putin just about everything he wants, dividing the counter balance to his aggressive behavior while failing to recognize Russia's antagonistic actions toward the West. That is not something Bismarck would have pursued, quite the opposite

Trump appealed to the basest instincts of Americans, like bigotry, misogyny, selfishness, persecution complexes and the general fear of the future. There are a lot more insecure and angry people in America than most thought. They saw a billionaire reality show host as a sounding board for their own mental problems.
The Repub senate had a vote backing NATO yesterday. it was 97 to 2. They fear what Trump is doing to international alliances. NATO was designed as a solid line against Russian aggression. You can see why Trump wants out. He is a Russia sympathizer .

After 911 ,NATO promised to help America wherever they could ,to find and punish those who attacked us.They are our friends and Trump is insulting them and slapping them in the face.

Trumpy is adding 200 billion to China tariffs,. Trump is fucking nuts.

What good is NATO if Germany is paying Russia billions of dollars for gas and energy? Why are their only 5 out of 29 countries that have met their commitment? The U.S. is paying for Europe’s protection, then loses billions on Trade. Must pay 2% of GDP IMMEDIATELY, not by 2025.
