Blackman shot dead with pants down

I remember that. Michael Brown attacked the officer and tried to take his gun. This guy was walking with his pants down. Maybe because I live in SF and see so many mentally ill on the street it doesn't surprise me. So a guy holding nothing with his pants down by his ankles is a different kind of threat and in this case a taser would be best option.

A guy with his pants down can't be a deadly threat? Not sure why you are being such a contrarian, you're usually quite reasonable. Do you have some insight as to what took place off camera, that wasn't included in the story? Please share it with us.

I generally support police officers but it doesn't mean they are infallible or don't do things wrong. I never want to be one who thinks they can do no right or no wrong. Like you said a report will come out on this. Based on this video and the Guy's actions before approaching the officer it is pretty clear he is mentally ill and angry and needs to be taken down but not shot and killed.

I respectfully agree to disagree about the last sentence of your post. I feel exactly the same way about the police. I guess we'll see.

Is this how the US deals with the mentally Ill these days?

Fuck you Tom.

You bitch and moan about people who post ad hom comments and here you are doing the same thing.

Here's how British Police deal with speeders in the UK.

Disturbing moment police are caught on camera 'beating a suspect as he surrenders' following 100mph chase

Video taken by a Fox News helicopter show the moment a suspect climbed out of his pickup truck and laid down on the floor after a 100mph police chase that crossed two states.
Apparently unaware they are being watched by a news crew, two officers leap on the suspect and appear to beat him in the head and back while other cops hold him down. :good4u:

Yeah bullshit, they seem to work over here.

Police: taser gun didn't work

One of the devices was used for the first time by police in Hounslow, west London on a gun-wielding man who emerged from his flat after a two-hour siege.

As well as two handguns, the 30-year-old man is thought to have had grenades.

Officers believe he may have been drunk and could have been trying to commit "suicide by cop", willing police to shoot him dead.

As the man - known as Oliver - advanced from his flat, officers ordered the use of the £350 battery-powered, US-made Taser M26.

The device delivers its high-voltage shock through two needle-tipped barbs which are attached to copper cables and travel up to 21 feet.

But Inspector Glen Smyth, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, said: "It didn't work in the way that it should have.

The article stated he was unarmed. If the guy reached into his pants by his ankle to pull out a gun this wouldn't be a story.

A statement made after the fact; because how did the writer know he was unarmed, before getting the final information.

Are you suggesting that weapons can only be kept in pants?

I'm sure people can get creative in hiding weapons but much harder for a guy wearing a white tee shirt and boxers with his pants around his ankles

I find it amusing that none of you wanted to deal with my obvious 'followed all commands and still ended up dead or raped' posts.....along with all the other ones I put on this forum, but I guess those are just a few dozen isolated incidents.

I see mentally ill people all the time where I live. This guy seemed to show clear signs of it. Most people don't walk around banging on cars with their pants down. He needed to be dealt with by the police but in this senario didn't need to die. Taser him or best his ass but he didn't need to be shot.

For as long as we've "known" each other on these boards I realize I don't know your profession. I would surmise, based on your passionate defense of cops, that you either were one or you worked with them.

I've not been a cop but I can't imagine shooting people is what most cops enjoy doing. So if this guy was following instructions he was taught them those rules need to be looked at closer

I have never been a cop, though I grew up in a small town and knew all the ones in our force. A high school friend of mine (class size of 54 students) his dad was police chief and he is now the chief, but I started learning that cops are not the protectors everyone thinks they are when I started getting in to the gun rights and open carry activism. They quickly became total assholes and completely unfriendly. I started learning and seeing all of the thin blue line protective crap that they do for each other and it taught me that there is no such thing as a good cop.....unless he's alone without his brothers in blue. Once there are more than one of them, they back each other up or they don't last long on the force....even to the point of protecting the criminality of the bad ones.

Why do you take things so personally? Oh and your link doesn't work.

could he have used a different method? maybe. but that goes to his state of mind. There was definetely a reason why it was done though. Maybe people should follow police officers and file a case afterwards if they were wrong.

My only thought is that black men have, for decades, been promoting the image of themselves as prone to violence and ready to put a cap in your ass at the slightest provocation, and that that's just part of being manly. And now they're upset that the cops, even the black cops, take that image seriously.
