Today is the anniversary of the My Lai massacre

Well fuck. This started out as a great topic. Devolved into kids flinging sand at each other.

Have a nice evening, kids.

I am sorry for your loss. No disrespect meant by my question. It's hard sometimes to gauge age in discussion venues like this.

Both of my brothers also served during that time period, but neither went to Nam.

My own thoughts about that war and the difference between when our own parents' generation went to war in the 1940s -- *they* had a just cause. America was attacked. The VN War otoh was a political bullshit thing where 55K+ of our young men died for a false political meme. Young ppl who were going to be drafted rebelled, and they brought their parents (finally) with them.

We have had not a single just war since WWII, to my way of thinking. I admit to being okay with bombing the shit out of the Taliban in Afghanistan following 9/11 in order to get Bin Laden, but then we dropped the football and stupidly went into a ground game. It took President Obama to take him out.
Korea was a just war, as was Bosnia and Desert Storm.
