This is why, beginning with Gulf War I, the military has clamped down on live reporting and has heavily censored reporters who are allowed to accompany troops. My main recollection of watching the coverage of GW I on CNN was tons of footage about the armaments being used, occasional distant footage of aerial bombardments, Israel- and Saudi-based reporters cowering when Scuds were incoming -- but no gritty realistic in-your-face real life warfare footage like we saw on TV every night during the VN War. They learned their lesson that allowing the ppl back home to see what war is really like is going to make war really unpopular.
