Not where I grew up. Several guys I went to school with had guns back in the 70's.

My best friend had an NRA membership when he was 12. They'd have meetings on Saturday mornings once per month at a gun range about 2 miles from our neighborhood. He'd strap his .22 rifle across his back, put a box of shells in his pocket and ride his bike down the side of the highway. Nobody even blinked an eye.

Once in 11th grade, another friend of mine brought a loaded .357 magnum pistol to school with him to show off. Buncha people knew about it, but nobody said anything and he didn't shoot anyone. Teachers, faculty and staff never knew a thing.

But these guys were out in the woods shooting and hunting all the time.

And nobody ever shot or killed anyone.

If I thought that children in schools would stop being targets, I would support what you support. But, I know that is not true.

I have proposed a common sense law. Ban all guns within 100 yards of a school. That should stop it right?
