U.S. Forces Fighting Iranians In Iraq

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told Congress on Friday that Iranians are now on the target list.

"Twice in the last two or three weeks, in pursuit of those networks, when we have gone and captured those cells, we've captured Iranians," said Gen. Peter Pace.

According to U.S. military figures, 198 American and British soldiers have been killed, and more than 600 wounded by advanced explosive devices manufactured in Iran and smuggled in through the southern marshes and along the Tigris River.

U.S. Troops Raid 2 Iranian Targets in Iraq, Detain 5 People

U.S. troops launched two raids on Iranian targets in Iraq yesterday, following through on President Bush's vow to confront and break up Tehran's networks inside Iraq. Five Iranians were detained, and vast amounts of documents and computer data were confiscated, according to U.S., Iraqi and Iranian officials.
The two raids are part of a new U.S. intelligence and military operation launched last month against Iran, U.S. officials said. The United States is trying to identify and detain top officials of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' al-Quds Brigade operating in Iraq. The al-Quds Brigade is active in arming, training and funding militant movements, such as Lebanon's Hezbollah, throughout the Middle East.

Yet, if we find them hiding those who did it would be all okay with Iran because "limited forays" isn't invasion. Right? That's what I "learned" from Dungheap.

I never used the term "limited forays" you douche. What you should have learned is that when we are talking about an ally and we are talking about targeting specific individuals in tribal areas, attacking specific individuals in an ally country is not an attack on the country itself and would not be construed as an invasion of that country by any reasonable person anywhere.

It's not that difficult a concept.

So over a year ago we managed to detain a grand total of five Iranians in Iraq? That's your evidence?

U.S. troops seize 6 Iranians in Iraq

BAGHDAD: U.S.-led multinational forces detained six Iranians Thursday at an Iranian government office in the northern city of Irbil, Iraqi officials said.
The U.S. military said it had taken six people into custody in the Irbil region but made no mention of a raid on any Iranian government office.
The forces entered the building about 3 a.m., detaining the Iranians and confiscating computers and documents, two senior local Kurdish officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information. Irbil is a city in the Kurdish-controlled northern part of Iraq, 350 kilometers, or 220 miles, from Baghdad.
A person who lives near the building said the troops had used stun bombs and brought down an Iranian flag from the roof. As the operation went on, two helicopters flew overhead, the resident said on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.
At the Pentagon, a senior U.S. military official said the building was not a consulate and did not have any diplomatic status. The six Iranians were taken in a "cordon-and-knock" operation, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.

Yeah, that must be the other six. Cypress mentioned there were eleven of them.

I agree that it's not tantamount to an invasion, or "bombing" pakistan.

As a general rule of thumb, I don't think we should be engaging in any military action in pakistan. The opportunity for civilian collateral deaths I have a huge problem with.

That link was from last year, and we have many in custody that we usually have to give back, it's a revolving door, because many have direct ties to the Iranian government. Many, many more have been caught training and giving munitions to terrorists. I can blanket this thread with story after story of Iranians taking part in the Killing of Americans and it sickens men to see my fellow Americans defending the killers of our soldiers.

I'm not defending Iran. I'm stating facts. The majority of the foreign fighters in iraq are from our erstwhile "ally" saudi arabia, as well as syria, libya, and other arab nations. Not from Iran.

Then you need to read up on just how precise our precision munitions are, we can shot a cruise missile a 100 miles away through Bin Laden's bedroom window, if we could get a small enough force on the ground there to place a target designator on the right window...

You must love that spinning class.

If the country gives you permission to attack specific individuals, then you are correct. Because then you are there with their PERMISSION.

If you bomb individuals WITHOUT permission, then that is another story all together.

We're defending fact and reality, not the killing of soldiers.

Like every precision munition in Iraq on the first day of OIF missing their targets? Those precision munitions? They are only as precise as the guidance system and with laser guided munitions, the placement of the lasers.

I agree that attacking individuals without permission is different from attacking individuals with permission but neither is akin to "invasion" or attacking the country itself.

Libya, they have recently gave us their WMD, days after the beginning of operation Iraqi freedom. Any correlation there, especially when the UN had been trying for so long to get them, Kadafi, he sent them to the US, last I heard they where in KY. Yes the Saudi's have a problem with Radical Islam, due to the holiest site of Islam being located in the Kingdom. But the government is moving in the right direction, with elections at local level, so strikes inside their nation is a big NO, they are a virtual ally in the region not to boot. Syria I agree with you on, but you are, pardon the pun, dead wrong, to claim that Iranians are not killing Americans.

You can post all the articles you want containing quotes from government and military leadership.

I'm not buying it. You, Bush, and the military leadership have told so many lies, so many falsehoods, so many exaggerations for five years that your credibility has expired. You said there were WMD. You said there were collaborative ties to al qaeda. You said mission accomplished. Jessica lynch. Pat Tillman. The lies go on and on. You yourself spent the first three years of the war arguing that things were getting better, and that we were on track in iraq. You were wrong.

The only thing I'll believe about Iraq now will come from confirmed and verified reports from independent, and international media sources.

You have to be kidding me, watch shock and awe again, All the Iraqi governmental, ministries, and communications buildings where destroyed, with very little collateral damage. I have a video here, of a National Geographic crew there in the middle of Shock and Awe, from one of the hotels, and you can see the precise buildings blowing up, and then the next day they walked around showing just how precise the strikes where, and just how little collateral damage was done

Secondly, the type of attack I was referring to would be a small Special Operations detachment to place laser designators on targets...
