Hawaii is a super-democrat state so there are no consequences for incompetence which means the screw-ups will continue.

jan 14 2008 The Hawaii public employee who plunged the state into chaos by accidentally sending out an incoming-missile emergency alert Saturday has been reassigned, according to reports.

The unnamed emergency department worker will not be fired because he made an honest mistake, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency spokesman Richard Rapoza told the Washington Post.

“Part of the problem was it was too easy — for anyone — to make such a big mistake,” Rapoza said. “We have to make sure that we’re not looking for retribution, but we should be fixing the problems in the system. … I know that it’s a very, very difficult situation for him.”

If this happened in a repub state the press would demand the name of the perp and if the governor refused, the press would investigate the matter till they found him.

If they released his name he'd get death threats or worse. He'd have to go into hiding over an honest mistake.

Besides, he's being retrained and won't be allowed back to his old duties until they're sure he's learned proper procedure.

The worst part of the entire incident was the 38 minutes it took to tell everyone it was a false alarm, which was because they had to download software that should have already been in place. Something that was not his responsibility.

I don't really want to see anyone fired over this either. The person made a mistake, and it was a doozy. I don't think the same mistake will be repeated. And it was a very good teachable moment. We haven't taken this stuff seriously for decades. Just don't politicize it. Trump didn't start this crap, or any other republican

Hawaii Emergency Management Agency Administrator Vern Miyagi admitted the issuing of the alert was his “responsibility” and declared the body will work to ensure it “never happens again”.He said: “It’s my responsibility so this would be my fault. “And we will work so this doesn't ever happen again. This is regrettable.“It won't happen again because the criticality of the time of this type of event and the credibility of this alarm going out is critical for us saving lives."

“We will take action to prevent this from ever happening again by having more than one person there to make this decision. “Let me finish the investigation, this is my fault and we will work so this never happens again. ”Hawaii Governor David Ige explained Mr Miyagi made the mistake by pressing the wrong button.
