leading host Savannah Guthrie to ask him if he was “living in a fantasy world.”

Guthrie expressed skepticism that the bill would lead to higher pay for workers, and to buttress her point she quoted former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg :rofl2:

“It’s pure fantasy to think that the tax bill will lead to significantly higher wages and growth.”

Guthrie then pushed Ryan, asking: “I’ll ask you plainly, are you living in a fantasy world?”

Ya and called him a friend of business, he's a big government lefty, fucking laughable.

I like Savannah and generally think she does an excellent job interviewing people on all sides of the political spectrum. But this was out of left field. Ironic too considering AT&T, Boeing, and Fifth Third Bancorp all announced today they were investing money in their employees and company growth as a result of the legislation.

Gods, sure hope not! As much as I loathe Trump, I want the country to do well even if the turd gets the credit.

I think we are in a bubble but I agree. Kens saying he hopes the bill fails. I'm trying to think of the outcome one would be rooting for if that is the desired result they want.

There were a lot of righties when Obama was President who hoped that he would fail, that the stimulus bills would fail, that the economy would continue to falter. I never understood how anyone can claim to love their country but want to see it fail because they hate half the ppl who live in it. Same goes for the lefties who are hoping for the same thing now just because they don't like Trump.

I'm a capitalist first and formost. I want the economy to do well and I want to make money and that trumps any political b.s. for me.

I never want to see the country fail and four or five corporations giving bonuses is a start, it why didn’t all of them give pay raises as well? I mean, after all, the corporate tax cuts are permanent, they could do a lot more for employees then throw them this little bone, it’s a start, but seems they could do more.

Exactly. The bonus thing sounds more like a PR move than something showing appreciation for the employees.

Wells Fargo made billions in profit last couple of year, I think they could have given their employees many things before this tax break happened.

I know, right? Did this new tax scheme close loopholes or how taxable income is calculated?

"President Donald Trump and the GOP leadership have vowed to reduce U.S. corporate taxes, arguing that the statutory 35 percent rate is far too high.

"But thanks to loopholes and tax-minimization strategies, few large, profitable corporations actually pay that rate. Among the roughly half of Fortune 500 companies that were consistently profitable between 2008 and 2015, the effective federal income tax rate was 21.2 percent over that eight-year period, according to a study from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. Eighteen of them, including General Electric (GE) and Priceline.com (PCLN), paid no federal income taxes during that time. "
