This isn't a question of "respecting" what the email read. It's about how to handle it.
That anchor and that station, if they approved her "announcement", failed.

There was nothing to stop from escalating. The person didn't call in. She sent an email. But you certainly are entitled to your opinion. I would be disappointed if it happened locally. But I'm pretty sure it would not.

You are entitled to your opinion. And the station can choose to allow whatever they want.
That being said, I'm pretty sure that Ms Rae is happy with the result of her privately sent communication, though. Someone who would send an email like that is more than likely thrilled with the attention she's getting. That's generally why such a person would send something like that.
Which is why the response was such a fail.

Rightwingers seem to think typing words on a keyboard is different that speaking words.

I was raised to know - as are most normal human beings - that social protocol and social expectations are exactly the same whether the words come out of your mouth, or you type the words on a keyboard. Evidently, a lot of righwingers don't feel typing words carries any responsibility, or expectation of social etiquette.

I presume this perhaps why some many rightwingers muster the "courage" to be racist on anonymous keyboards, but would never dream of talking the same way at work or to their neighbors.
