Tillerson Gone - Pompeo in as Sec of State?

I admire president Tump, but we also have very good relations with Russia's Putin, Egypt's Sisi tells CNBC
http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsCon...resident-Tump,-but-we-also-have-very-goo.aspx

it's clear Egypt no longer wants to be in a position where it solely relies on the US -
since Obama's sanctions drove Sisi to Moscow for arms.

Sisi is "diversifying" - he's improved relations with the US under Trump, but also with Putin

I do chuckle a little bit when I see quotes like "I admire President Trump." The same vibe is coming from more than a few world leaders.

World leaders are horrified by Trump. They say that because they either want to tread lightly w/ someone so unstable, or because they see it as a strategy (like Putin), and understand that buttering Trump up publicly can reap benefits for them.

you do not understand WHY sisi admires Trump.
It has nothing to do with "buttering up"

It's because Trump has realigned the Sunni state relations to the US,
and because Trump has urged a greater partnership among those states and with the US on terrorism

He doesn't admire Trump.

ahh. so Sisi is lying? lol..c'mon man!

Sis was the first foreign leader to call Trump to congratulate.Egypt was the first stop on Trumps first tour.

Trump and Egypt ( and SA) have re-established a much better relationship
after Obama's dissing of the Sunni states by the Iran deal.

The king of SA would not even come to Washington to meet Obama after that! ( despite the invite)

He's being diplomatic - or, as I said, he knows that Trump needs to hear.

you idiot..
i broke it down for you/ in short -yes Trump is being steamrolled by the prevailing Russiaphobia
that infects all of DC,including his Chief of Staff.

It would be amazing if it was otherwise.

At least Trump keeps talking to Putin, but the inertia to Deep Freeze Russia
is overwhelming and crosses institutional purviews

Which means one of Tillerson's best assets (personal contact) is not useful..

He's been a rationalist. he's done a yeoman's job - but events outpaced him
Thanks for admitting that Trump is not in charge of the white house.

retard. loser.

ya dumb fvck.

Trump is in charge. Russiaphobia ties his hands in improving relations, and using Tillerson to his full advantage.

Kelly is Standard Issue Military guy.. however this is WAPO fake news so far anyways

Russian air bases on Egyptian soil, right next to Israel!
no shit Sherlock..
now see if you can tie in "Trump gave Egypt to the Russian's"

Obama Wrecked U.S.-Egypt Ties
he administration’s painted-in-gray policy utterly confused Cairo, which is confronting multiple threats on multiple fronts, and therefore views things in black-and-white terms. The July 2013 ouster of Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Morsi locked the Egyptian government in a violent, life-and-death struggle with the Brotherhood, whose supporters demanded Sisi’s execution, orchestrated a low-profile insurgency against state institutions, and called for “martyrdom” in a January 2015 statement declaring “jihad.” Meanwhile, the Egyptian military began a major offensive against Sinai-based jihadis in September 2013, and launched a series of airstrikes against jihadis in Libya starting in August 2014.

So as bombs exploded in major Egyptian cities, and as hundreds of security forces were killed in Sinai and the Western Desert, and as the broader region continued its descent into unprecedented chaos, Cairo had one question for Washington: are you with us or against us? The Egyptian government, in other words, didn’t view the Obama administration’s withholding of F-16 fighter jets as an affirmation of Washington’s commitment to democracy. Rather, Cairo saw the move as a significant blow to its long-term security at perhaps the most dangerous moment in contemporary Middle Eastern history.

Therefore, with the generous help of its Persian Gulf allies, Egypt sought to satisfy its defense needs elsewhere. It signed a $5.5 billion deal to buy 24 Rafale fighter jets from France, and is negotiating a $3.5 billion arms deal with Russia.

As a result, Washington’s influence with Cairo waned. Egypt blew off the administration’s criticism of its strikes against jihadis in Libya, rejected Washington’s offer of counterterrorism training, and will likely purchase S-300 surface-to-air missiles from Russia

Back to Obama as usual, asshole? Got something more recent than 2015. Did you notice that this change did not come about until Trump began to ruin everything?
