so you ask yourself, why is Pocahontas still relevant?
because Democrats have no leader, no way forward, and they have permanently lost Bernie supporters for treating them like dogs.
So as of now, Pocahontas is their leader. She ride bareback horse onto plains, throw down war arrow, and lead her Cherokee nation into battle in 2018

Bet she wasn't rich if/when she had to use, and benefited from, programs to help her advance. After all, white men didn't give women a chance to make a life for themselves EITHER. At least she uses her benefits for good instead of trying to keep others from advancing.

She relied on stories that her parents/grandparents told. Not much different than trump's racist Nazi father telling him that he was a prodigy that is the only hope for the continuation of the family enterprise.

My understanding is that it's just something that was repeated in her family as she was growing up, and that the "1/32" thing or whatever it is was based on some pretty faulty research.

I'm not saying one way or the other what her heritage is or how she has used it - but like I said, w/ the "evidence" I've seen, it is an overblown GOP talking point. No one really knows, and it seems more likely to me that it was just something she was told a lot growing up.
