the Johnson Amendment

Is this the new version of liberal poll taxes....pay to play....liberals are so obviously hypocrites....

No you repugnant shitstain.
It is one principles the country was built upon; no taxation with representation and inversely no representation without taxation now go fuck yourself faux patriot.

They should not, nor should they be denied their free speech rights....

Did you bitch and moan when Clinton and Obama, Jesse Jackson etc. went to church and gave political speeches ?

They want to keep there tax exempt status? Great. Play by the rules. Pretty simple.

You want to become active in the secular, political world? Great. Bye bye exemptions.

this is being promoted to destory the country

trump is in office to cause chaos

that is why the russians hired him

Clinton and Obama didn't play by the rules and neither did the black churches they gave political speeches in...why the double standard, dumber ?

Are the rules different for Dems and black churches ?

If so, they will have a seat a the table to dictate policy. Is that your goal?

They already have the same seat to dictate policy as every other American; they just can't endorse candidates or parties from the pulpit.

This provision has almost never been enforced. Ministers send the IRS videos of their sermons endorsing candidates to force a court test of this provision and the IRS never takes action.

Let’s see. The POTUS giving a speech at a church versus the preacher telling his people how to vote. Are you too fucking dumb to see the difference?

should Churches lose their tax free status?

Repealing the Johnson Amendment is much simpler, actually.
Be careful what you ask for. You might get it. Religion in America has flourished in the US in the last 50 years largely due to the Johnson Amendment protecting Religious Institutions from the distorting influences of money and politics. Church attendance in America over that time has grown with Church attendance exceeding all entertainment venues. While all other industrialized nations have seen dramatic declines in religious participation.

I don’t think the vast majority of Churches want to see the Johnson amendment repealed as they don’t want to risk alienating members because of divisive political differences.

I say it's because postmodernism was nauseating to so many people that they went looking for spiritual renewal.

The Johnson Amendment is a provision in the U.S. tax code, since 1954, that prohibits all 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations from endorsing or opposing political candidates. Section 501(c)(3) organizations are the most common type of nonprofit organization in the United States, ranging from charitable foundations to universities and churches. The amendment is named for then-Senator Lyndon B. Johnson of Texas, who introduced it in a preliminary draft of the law in July 1954.
In the 2000s, many Republicans, including President Donald Trump, have sought to repeal the provision, arguing that it restricts the free speech rights of churches and other religious groups. These efforts have been criticized because churches have fewer reporting requirements than other non-profit organizations, and because it would effectively make political contributions tax-deductible. On May 4, 2017, President Donald Trump signed an executive order "to defend the freedom of religion and speech" for the purpose of easing the Johnson Amendment's restrictions.[1

All those black churches where Hillary spoke had no problem violating it when they allowed her to preach her "sermon" during the campaign.

No....whats the difference? Besides the fact that the President thinks he is above that rules....and you think a preacher has no freedom of speech....

Powerful people live by a different set of laws and rules....??? is that your point....

No wonder you're an idiot....thats why a previous AG of Arkansas thought he could rape a women, and commit perjury....
