"DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - The woman who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape was convicted of second-degree murder Friday in the stabbing death of her boyfriend.

The jury deliberated for about six hours over two days before reaching its verdict in the trial of 34-year-old Crystal Mangum, who was sentenced to between 14 years and 18 years in prison.

Killed was 46-year-old Reginald Daye, who was stabbed on April 3, 2011. He died of complications 10 days later.

Mangum claimed the stabbing was a case of self-defense, saying Daye was beating her in a jealous rage when she grabbed a knife and "poked him in the side."

Assistant District Attorney Charlene Franks told the jurors during closing arguments that the evidence did not back up Mangum's story.

In 2006, Mangum falsely claimed Duke lacrosse players gang-raped her at a team party where she was hired as a stripper. The case caught the nation's attention, as the coach was forced to resign and the university canceled the remainder of the season.

The three players arrested were eventually declared innocent by North Carolina's attorney general after Mangum's story crumbled and her mental stability was questioned. The Durham prosecutor, Mike Nifong, who championed Mangum's case, was later disbarred."

Why wasn't this monster already in prison for life for her false rape accusations??? Answer - the media DEFENDED her!!! They said she was "troubled" and it wouldn't be fair to lock her up!!

You have to wonder - has a woman EVER been raped.? Seems like every rape accusation turns into a lie for money.

Remind me - didn't the same liberals screeching that Moore is guilty also proclaim this woman credible when she made her false allegations?

It seems like the only accusers they won't believe are the ones who accuse DEMOCRATS.

Then there's the Tawana Brawley case. They all swore she was believable, too, didn't they?

The answer, to my mind anyway, is to be more robust dealing with false rape allegations. That way the true rapists can be dealt with far more judiciously. I would suggest that the accusers receive the exact same punishment as would have been meted out to the falsely accused. This is starting to happen over here and it's about time.

The D.A was disbarred. Any change must come from the top. Of course in her case, it was conceivable that she would have been raped. They just rushed to judgement, leaving a wake of destruction.

The DA was a disbarred DEMOCRAT who was jailed for contempt after he promoted false rape allegations for political reasons.

In February 2010, she was arrested on charges of attempted murder of her live-in partner, Milton Walker.[2] She was eventually convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, injury to personal property and resisting a public officer.[3]

You answered your own question. She was not in prison because she's a woman. 96% of the people in prison are men. Another huge and blatant example of female privilege and male persecution.

I thought it was one of their better productions. My favorites are still "The Class of '83" and "Chasing Tyson," but "Fantastic Lies," is very good.
