One hundred years is nothing in the historical record, and even those climate records are suspect. You want me to fund your fantasies because of suspect and scanty data manipulated by people whose livelihoods depend on spreading hysteria.

Government funded climate science is truly tantamount to fraud and a tragic waste of money. That report has the imprimatur of Katherine Hayhoe all over it, climate alarmist par excellence, it is complete garbage that should never have passed peer review. It was written purely to justify Obama era policy and to attract even more funds.

My guess is that the study will be attacked because it was compiled by the government. Same thing if it had come from a think tank of leading scientific institutions, or a joint collaboration between respected universities. In other words, if it doesn't jibe with one's confirmation bias, then it's bogus. Wait for it.

That criticism has already been leveled by cornholio. Sadly for him university research is 85 to 90 percent gubmint funded. if the work is private it's hard to work out deals with the university because the company needs its IP and wants to hold back the work whereas the government insists it be published in some form. Of course cornholio doesn't understand anything at all about what I am saying because he is a fraud and not an academic so has no experience whatsoever in the relative merits of research finance.

I doubt that you have actually. That is a government report produced by government scientists to justify the continuance of huge amounts of money on climate research. It is a total waste of time, as it is essentially duplicating what the IPCC does already. I refer you to the excellent blog run by climatologist Judith Curry on the subject.

The other anti-climate change argument that I find amusing is the "Yeah but scientists said the opposite ___ years ago."

This is always, of course, said by those who lack much of a science background. Of course scientists "change their minds" -- that is exactly what science does. When new evidence arises that disproves a previous conclusion, hypotheses are created and experiments designed to create a new conclusion. Black-and-white thinkers find this wishy-washy and therefore suspect.

All true. And were the science to later indicate the studies now made did not justify the scientific conclusions it is more than probable we would embrace the science and guess what, these oil motivated frauds would suddenly embrace it also. They will be ok with climate science on condition it concludes they can burn fossil fuels with impunity and at no risk to business.

The Scientific Method, as you are attempting to describe, relies on empirical evidence and the principle of falsifiability not climate models. I refer you to the truly outstanding lecture entitled Cargo Cult Science given by the inestimable Richard Feynman way back 1974. Without doubt if he were alive today he'd have a field day ripping climate pseudo-science apart.
