No. CA has a lot more good than bad, and the good is the national goal - not our right-wing areas or the poverty that exists. We're the wealthiest state in the nation, leading in key industries from tech to entertainment to being the top agricultural state and a top dairy state. It's why our economy is bigger per capita than other states', dwarfing red states to whom we subsidize with our tax dollars for their poor, while our state has people with healthcare unlike red states. Overall we're doing great.

So we should pass on our refusal to build housing nationally which is the main driver of our inequality and the reason we have a 20% poverty rate? I mean if the medium home price in your area isn't $750K you're not doing it right, correct?

Like I said, I'm happy to pay fair taxes. It's not practical to ask people to come up with 30 years of taxes at once, but we should roll back tax rates to pre-Reagan and perhaps temporarily increase them a bit to get back to more equality.

There's nothing better our country can do than to restore our more balanced tax rates and lower inequality and increase investments in the country following a democratic (small and large d) public-interest agenda like infrastructure and education.

Interesting how those that say things like you want to be the ones to determine what makes it fair.

If some poor leech wants to be equal to someone else, let them do what that someone else did. What you want is the high school dropout to be equal to the productive individual that did something to better him/herself.

The issue is politicians choose not to cut spending.

What rock were you hiding under? Reagans Supply Side tax cuts and massive deficit spending on the military undermined what Voelker had been doing to end of years of stagflation due to Nixon’s policies to the point where Reagan back tracked and raised taxes. It was at that period when Reagan raised taxes and reduced deficit spending that the economy in the 80’s began to improve.

You need to go back and study the actual history of the Reagan era instead of relying on internet myth.
