As more information comes out on Russian influence operations in the United States, evidence is building that the dominant anti-Trump movement, the self-described “resistance,” has been used by Russia to stoke division and undermine the White House.

After Trump’s electoral victory, Russian cyber operations began focusing on “fomenting discord about the validity of [Trump’s] election,” Facebook general counsel Colin Stretch told a Senate Judiciary panel on Tuesday. Sean Edgett, general counsel for Twitter, offered a similar assessment.

CNN’s reporting on the anti-Trump protests that weekend noted: “Some are questioning the legitimacy of Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton by noting that although he took the Electoral College, Clinton won the popular vote.” (The popular vote has zero impact on the legitimacy of an election.)

Russian operatives organized other anti-Trump protests, BuzzFeed reported, including a pair of anti-Trump protests in Charlotte, North Carolina.

While promoting the anti-Trump protests in Charlotte, the Russian operatives falsely claimed that the fact that Hillary Clinton received more total votes than Trump — which is meaningless in the Electoral College system established by the Constitution — made Trump an illegitimate president.

Recent reporting has shown that Russia’s is behind a concerted effort to promote identity politics, which currently dominates the American left wing.

The weekend after Trump’s election, thousands of people attended a left-wing anti-Trump protest in New York City that was secretly organized by Russian operatives, ads released by the House Intelligence Committee revealed.

More than 16,000 people RSVP’d on Facebook for the protest, which was titled: “Trump is NOT my President. March against Trump.”

“Join us in the streets! Stop Trump and his bigoted agenda!” a Facebook event for the protest read.

Left-wing filmmaker "Man Mountain" Michael Moore was among those joining the Russian protest.

Russian operatives organized other anti-Trump protests. DEMOCRATS echo the message being pushed by Russian propaganda.

So let me see if I got it straight, according to you and your partisan websites, not only was the Clinton campaign working with Russia against Trump as we've been told previously, but now, in addition, we have anyone currently who disagrees with the President is inspired and motivated by Russia?

Is that right?

Guess it is the new angle given the that the debunked conspiracies of last week ain't gaining any ground

Trump is an illegitimate president. The electoral college is contrary to reason, and therefore is illegitimate. It is only supported by those who politically benefit from it. It is the same as a dictatorship, rule without recourse to the people. 304 fascists do not have the right to nullify the election and install their own dictator. America must have an elected president.

You have two choices. You can peaceably agree to abolish the electoral college and restore rule to the people of the United States, or you can agree to have it abolished after the revolution. Pick the easy way or the hard way.

exactly,, Russian propaganda is as old as the Bolshevik Revolution..we play the same games.
You have to be a blithering idiot to be swayed by FB ads

Russia didn't care about the outcome of the election they just wanted to sew political discord and the left gladly obliged them.

But I thought Russia was our friend?!
why do we need to be friends?
All we need to do is manage the relationship. realpolitik. same as it ever was.

I can guarantee Putin is playing that game -
we would rather be morally outraged while Putin plays geo-political chess.

Trump is an illegitimate president.

No he was duly elected in free and fair elections.

The electoral college is contrary to reason, and therefore is illegitimate.

No it is not, we are a federal republic made up of many states with divergent interests, it's not our fault that the Democrats have been relegated to regional party status and do not have broader national appeal. Furthermore; if the electoral college is illegitimate then so is the Senate apparently you think our entire Constitutional Republican framework is illegitimate, but I do have good news for you there is an Article 5 option or thanks to the fact that you live in a free and open society; such as, ours you are free to leave at any time.

It is only supported by those who politically benefit from it. It is the same as a dictatorship, rule without recourse to the people. 304 fascists do not have the right to nullify the election and install their own dictator. America must have an elected president.

God you are fucking dumb, the electorates always vote the way their states vote and their numbers are exactly proportional to the number of Congressmen from each state, because this is a representative federal republic; whereby, California and New York do not get an unfair say at the federal level compared to smaller states; such as, Idaho and Kansas the majority of people in the majority of states voted for Trump, you don't get to change the rules after the game has already been played, we don't know what the popular vote would have been had that been the campaign Trump was running because he didn't bother to campaign in New York and California and many Republicans don't bother voting in those states either.
