George Washington's Church Says Plaque Honoring First President Must Come Down

Leaders at the church that George Washington attended decided that a plaque honoring the first president of the United States must be removed.

Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia will take down a memorial marking the pew where Washington sat with his family, saying it is not acceptable to all worshipers.

“The plaques in our sanctuary make some in our presence feel unsafe or unwelcome," leaders said, a reference to the fact that Washington was a slaveholder.

"Some visitors and guests who worship with us choose not to return because they receive an unintended message from the prominent presence of the plaques.”

i am not even going to question why..we are politically bizarre now

As I've been saying for years and years, the Democrat party has a vile hatred for the founding fathers. This is just more proof of their utter hatred for the FF's.

How does a plaque in a church make one feel unsafe ? And why are they just now feeling unsafe?

Leftism on display and they wonder why they can’t even beat the feckless republicans

The church was swayed by leftism?

What a retard!

A) The problem is related to the fact that there is also a plaque honoring Robert E. Lee.

B) The articles says that the plaques will be MOVED not REmoved. Currently they are in the sanctuary on either side if the pulpit, I believe. They'll likely just be moved to another part of the building, like a foyer or a hallway or something.

C) As the church leadership said... it's a church not a history museum. The plaques serve no real purpose where they are currently located.

Much ado about nothing.

so you fucks are going to ORDER the church to do what?

This is a church you idiots

You dont own it

the people who own it decided to do this and its NONE of your fucking business how they whorship assholes

so what do you shits do?

So why shouldn't there be a plaque showing George Washington sat?

Why should there be one?

Besides, I don't think that particular marker (it's not a plaque - they are two different things) is what they're talking about moving anyway.

I believe the pew marker(s) is/are staying.

And just for the record, I'm all for the pew marker(s) staying in place.
