Abortion thought experiment

"Here it is. You're in a fertility clinic. Why isn't important. The fire alarm goes off. You run for the exit. As you run down this hallway, you hear a child screaming from behind a door. You throw open the door and find a five-year-old child crying for help. .
They're [sic]in one corner of the room. In the other corner, you spot a frozen container labeled "1000 Viable Human Embryos." The smoke is rising. You start to choke. You know you can grab one or the other, but not both before you succumb to smoke inhalation and die, saving no one. 4/

Do you A) save the child, or B) save the thousand embryos? There is no "C." "C" means you all die.

In a decade of arguing with anti-abortion people about the definition of human life, I have never gotten a single straight A or B answer to this question. And I never will. " Patrick Tomlinson

This is dumb. All someone has to do is be facetious, lie and say they'd take the embryos because they see them as equal to the kid.

Surprised no play on this provocation.

When do you think an endearing lobbying group can convince the legislature to create a "National Abortion Day"?

and then, "National Abortion Day Parade"?

Which country will have it first on their new years' calendar?

"National Abortion Day Stamp"?

"Ms. Abortion Pageant"?

"The Abortion Monster film festival"?

I predict this thread will go for PAGES before you get a straight answer out of JPP's anti-choice contingent.

Maybe, if we are just voyeurs. I suffer no illusion that any of the pro life people will admit anything. Notice they haven't even participated. It's not dumb if it gets them to admit to themselves the truth that though the embryos have value, they do not in fact value them equally to a born person. I have zero belief they've
been honest with themselves. This hypo is smart in that it forces them to confront and make that assessment. They haven't participated because it presents them with the dilemma and cognitive dissonance. By avoiding the thread they can avoid lying or the painful truth.

Depends on who the five year old is. Child of a JPP liberal? Let it burn save the embryos and raise em right.

This question reveals your lack of understanding of the conservative position on abortion.
