Do soldiers fight for a flag, or what it represents?

When people were sick of being overtaxed by the Britts the US flag was born, it has been the symbol that preserved freedom Worldwide since it has existed. The Commie Pinko faggots in the NFL are to fucking comatose and braindead to know that the US flag is what Lincoln handed to Grant as he told him to burn the South plantations and not come back until every man woman and child were free. You have no concept of either history or current reality, which is why you exist in the way that you do

Yada yada.

You have no idea why each individual chose to enlist or fight, now, or ever.

You only know why a few said they fought, which isn't the same thing.

Even if they articulate some lofty patriotic-sounding slogan there's no way for anyone else to know if it's the motivating factor or not. Some people serve because they can't get a better opportunity, some because it's a generational family tradition.

The reasons for enlisting are as diverse as the individuals who serve. It's ridiculous to assume that every service-person made their life choices for a slogan.

I suspect that most have a multitude of reasons for serving, none of which are public knowledge.

This is a silly thread from a silly man.

It's not trolling. It's just going to the heart of what it means to be American.

Nothing is really being said that I didn't know, but I think it's an interesting discussion.

Fair enough and I take back what I said. You showed your stance in post #10.

ask a Russian soldier -how would I know?

I thought you were in touch with Russian policy, wanted a better relationship with Russiam and were generally sympathetic to the Russian people. Ohhh right, you just care about one Russian, and you've said "Who cares" when it comes to Putin's abuse of human rights and his pillaging of the Russian economy. That being the case, can you guess what a Russian solider would fight for?
