Students storm library, shut down College Republicans meeting

eeding Adamian’s call, student activists disrupted the meeting by banging open the door to the meeting space and shouting accusations that the members were “fascists,” “racists,” and “white supremacists.”

According to the UCSC College Republicans, their offers to discuss the concerns of the protesters were met with exclamations that “dialogue is violence,” after which the protesters called the club’s presence a “threat to the library” and demanded that the CR members vacate the space immediately.

The protesters even reportedly berated library staff members when they refused to shut down the pre-approved meeting. One staff member eventually asked the CR members to leave in order to end the disturbance, but meeting attendees chose to respond by sitting quietly and refusing to leave the area.

The commotion culminated in one of the student activists running out into the main library area screaming that there were “Nazis downstairs,” but while the gimmick drew several spectators, many of them expressed indignation at the actions of the protestors.

your party has the approval of the nazis and the KKK

why is that?

why do you people hate so many other people

so it's cool to shout down political meetings ,berating staff, banging doors, and threatening staff?

how very unFree Speech that is

It has EVERYTHING to do with it .. and you not knowing that makes your questions quite suspect.

NO, Hell no, I would not want my children exposed to moronic racist thought regardless of the setting. They already know what that shit is without a primer from a racist.

Ok. Your response completely belies what liberals claim college is about and that others are anti intellectual

Ok. Your response completely belies what liberals claim college is about and that others are anti intellectual

No it does not .. and you hardly speak for liberals.

I'll ask again, where was all this concern about civility and listening to opposing views during the Obama years?

Your side has wrought these divisions, but you ignore that.

Dude, we're talking about college campuses. What does that have to do with Obama?

Do you not believe college is a time when one is supposed to be exposed to different thoughts and ideas (and I don't mean just political) and ultimately a time of learning?

And they are, the groups involved in such protests is a small minority of the total population, kids learn from watching, they can see the two points of view, some buy in with the loudest voice, others get truned off by it, education

Tea Party Protests: ‘Ni**er,’ ‘Fa**ot’ Shouted At Members Of Congress

Abusive, derogatory and even racist behavior directed at House Democrats by Tea Party protesters on Saturday left several lawmakers in shock.
Preceding the president’s speech to a gathering of House Democrats, thousands of protesters descended around the Capitol to protest the passage of health care reform. The gathering quickly turned into abusive heckling, as members of Congress passing through Longworth House office building were subjected to epithets and even mild physical abuse.
A staffer for Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told reporters that Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) had been spat on by a protestor. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a hero of the civil rights movement, was called a ‘ni—er.’ And Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) was called a “faggot,” as protestors shouted at him with deliberately lisp-y screams. Frank, approached in the halls after the president’s speech, shrugged off the incident.
But Clyburn was downright incredulous, saying he had not witnessed such treatment since he was leading civil rights protests in South Carolina in the 1960s.
“It was absolutely shocking to me,” Clyburn said, in response to a question from the Huffington Post. “Last Monday, this past Monday, I stayed home to meet on the campus of Claflin University where fifty years ago as of last Monday... I led the first demonstrations in South Carolina, the sit ins... And quite frankly I heard some things today I have not heard since that day. I heard people saying things that I have not heard since March 15, 1960 when I was marching to try and get off the back of the bus.”
“It doesn’t make me nervous as all,” the congressman said, when asked how the mob-like atmosphere made him feel. “In fact, as I said to one heckler, I am the hardest person in the world to intimidate, so they better go somewhere else.”

what is to be learned by shouting down, and berating staff of other's meetings?
The behavior is indefensible. It goes against everything we value ( free speech/tolerance/political debate)
kids learn from watching
yes they do, and they ae watching force and threats winning out over debate

why is it you ALWAYS hold your oposition to a higher level of behavior than your do your selves?

because your shit is all lies you cant defend

Maybe I'm unaware, please show me conservative groups who shut down liberal speakers on campus during Obama's presidency
